"Sanzan (three mountains 三山) focusing on and emphasizing three major components in Karate: hardness (Go), softness(Ju), and fastness (Soku). Sanzan is centered on these three key elements in Karate."
Hardness (Go) refers to the strong, rigid, and powerful techniques that involve the use of force and solid structure.
Softness (Ju) involves fluid, relaxed movements that emphasize flexibility, redirection of force, and adaptability. It is the yin to the yang of hardness, creating balance in the practice of karate.
Fastness (Soku) in karate refers to the speed and timing of techniques. It is not just about how fast a technique is executed, but also about when it is executed.
In karate, a balanced approach that integrates hardness, softness, and fastness is key to mastery. These components complement each other. For instance, a technique may start with a soft, fluid movement (softness) to avoid an attack, followed by a fast and precise counter-strike (fastness) that is delivered with maximum impact (hardness).

White Crane Fist, or Hakutsuru Ken, as taught by Master Wu Xian Hui (known in Okinawa as Go Kenki), is a traditional martial arts style rooted in White Crane Kung Fu from China. His teachings helped preserve the rich tradition of White Crane Fist within the broader scope of Okinawan karate. Hakutsuru Ken emphasizes graceful yet powerful movements that mimic the crane’s defensive and offensive techniques. The style focuses on fluidity, precision, and control, combining evasive footwork with open-hand strikes, deflections, and quick counters. Practitioners develop heightened sensitivity, using subtle body mechanics and angles to neutralize attacks, with an emphasis on soft but effective power. Master Go Kenki refined and passed down these techniques, blending them into Okinawan karate traditions.
Master Kenwa Mabuni learned three katas—Papuren, Nipaipo, and Haffa—from Master Go Kenki, modifying and simplifying them for inclusion in his Shitoryu Karatedo syllabus

Master Anko Itosu was one of the most important figures in the development of modern karate. He helped transform karate from a private martial tradition, taught quietly to selected students, into a structured method of physical education. Through his vision, karate became more organized, more accessible, and better suited for teaching in schools. His introduction of karate into the Okinawan school system created a new path for the art, allowing younger generations to study karate in a systematic way.
One of Master Itosu’s greatest contributions was the development of the Pinan kata, which became a foundation for many karate styles. These kata helped students learn basic movements, body control, stances, timing, and self-defense principles in a clear progression. Many great karate masters were influenced by his teachings, and through them his ideas spread to mainland Japan and then around the world. Because of his work, Master Anko Itosu is remembered as one of the key founders of modern karate education.

Sanchin & Naihanchi (三戦 & 内歩進)
Shito-ryu Karate combines the speed and precision of Shuri-te with the rooted power and close-range control of Naha-te. This blend creates a system with both long-range striking and short-range engagement.
Kenwa Mabuni stressed that Sanchin and Naihanchi are not only forms but methods for building Karate skill. He emphasized exact stance, posture, breathing rhythm, hip use, and mental focus. Small errors in alignment, tension, or timing weaken the result. You must train both the internal elements such as breathing, core engagement, and mental intent, and the external elements such as proper stance, correct posture, foot position, and hand technique. This ensures the lessons of Sanchin and Naihanchi carry into many movement in Shito-ryu Karate.
Consistent, focused practice of Sanchin and Naihanchi will build core skills that support many key techniques in your Karate.

They used to say running is the mother of all sports.
But times have changed—and so has the science.
These days, we know that muscle is a longevity organ.
Whatever your sport, whatever your physical activity,
weight training isn’t optional—it’s essential.
It builds strength, protects joints, improves posture,
and keeps your body young and resilient.
Here’s a glimpse of my session today at the gym—
staying strong, staying ready.
Let’s keep lifting. 💪

Training Sanchin combined with Kaatsu method.
Kaatsu (加圧, often styled as KAATSU) is a patented exercise method developed by Dr. Yoshiaki Sato that is based on blood flow moderation exercise (or vascular occlusion moderation training) involving compression of the vasculature proximal to the exercising muscles by the Kaatsu Bands.
KAATSU is Japanese and literally means "additional pressure" -- additional ("ka") pressure ("atsu"). Kaatsu bands also calls “Blood Flow Restricted” or “Occlusion” bands.

Ken Zen Ichinyo
Strength of body. Strength of spirit. One path.
The fist and the spirit are one. True karate training is not only physical. The body must be forged through hard practice, and the spirit must be cultivated through discipline, humility, and perseverance.
Physical strength and spiritual strength must develop together.
