| 7 | Also I have been active on goodreads. I used to think that the design was cluttered with a lot of clunky features. But after using it for a while now, I have changed my mind. The desktop version is great and has lots and lots of features, the mobile app doesn't have as many and it's a little harder to use.
Here's my profile, and the features that i liked the most are:
- Creating a bookshelf, kind of like letterbox, you can have different shelves, "Currently Reading", "read", "want to read", and you can add as many new shelves as you want.
- Seeing other people's bookshelves and comparing yours with theirs to see how much of your book tastes align and add them to your friends based on that, but i think the best way to choose who you add as a friend is to find out if they felt the same way as you about a book that you've read.
- The reading challenge, once you set your goals it tells you how many books ahead or behind you are based on your goal.
- And this one actually came as a surprise, it has a user ranking system, "top reader of the week", "top reviewer in Ethiopia", it's not a formal leader board but it highlights the active profiles and makes them visible. | 281 |

| 15 | 2017 has not been very kind to me. I am moving into 2018 with high hopes that it'll be better. That I will be better.
And this new year brings so much hope with it because living to see another day means another chance to rebuild what was lost, and get things right this time around.
I am somewhat thankful to all that happened this year, it led me to see how faulty the ground I was standing on was and i learned a lot.

Me having no idea about the eclipse today, I was touched by the idea of my dad seeing a random moon and thinking of me.
It wasn't a random moon, and he was telling everyone.

| 18 | In an internet cafe (it still exists), a man sitting in the booth infront of me was giving some kind of Arabic lessons online, he was teaching it in english and he was so good (and loud) that i couldn't help but start taking notes.
He was telling them how there are geniuses in all fields, the ones who often times excel at what they do, and we often mistake that they are the bar. Like in sports a regular person wanting to begin playing basketball and he sets the bar at Michael Jordan, and that's a set up for disappointment and failure. (it doesn't sound right when i say it but he was saying to not set the bar too high.)

| 20 | Made my little cousins watch The Chronicles of Narnia, and they were Entranced. They sat through and watched the whole thing. Which is surprising because they are very young and get bored and distracted very easily.
And even more surprisingly, when Aslan went to die at the stone table, my aunt, their grandmother, asked Why Susan couldn't shoot them with her arrows and rescue Aslan, She was also pretty taken in at this point and couldn't bear to see him die.
And my little cousin answered her before I could, he said it was because of the law, that otherwise the white witch would take their brother. I didn't expect him to understand the LAW. He's 8. And the movie somehow made him make sense of sacrifice and redemption.
I am now sitting with so much appreciation for the movie and the genius of C.S. Lewis. Also a little worried about my other 4-year-old cousin who seemed to enjoy it a little too much, and I don't think he was cheering for the right people, and he was saying things like ወጋው, ገደለው, ሞተ 🙂 | 383 |
