As I’ve said before, Americans voted for Trump because they want illegal immigrants deported, and he also made promises to them about other domestic issues, like protecting our rights and improving the economy. Americans, for better or worse, don’t care much about foreign policy — domestic policies are always more important. So historically when asked about foreign policy, candidates running for POTUS give the American public vague notions of getting us out of wars, promoting world peace, and telling AIPAC they support Israel. That’s about it. Trump’s public admiration for Putin never came across as support for Russian aggression to the American public. I doubt they even noticed it or thought much about it at all.

Well, the last few regimes. But there’s something going on that the American public doesn’t understand, because no one here is intentionally voting for a POTUS that will bail out Russia.

It’s things like this that make me understand why some people in other countries hate the USA.
