I’m not talking about brown catholic monarchists here — I don’t care what they think — I’m referring to people associated with White nationalism that claim to be monarchists.

Most internet monarchists advocate for some form of absolute monarchy — essentially a return to medieval political structures. But what they often overlook is the central role of religion in monarchy. If we were to restore the kind of monarchy they envision, the monarch’s religion— whether Protestant or Catholic — would be a major issue. However, most of the people advocating for monarchy aren’t particularly Christian.

Yes, let’s bring back monarchy — and the inevitable wars of succession that historically followed.

Historically, under monarchy, there was no guarantee that the king or queen would share the same culture, religion, or ethnicity as their subjects — often they didn’t. Therefore, nationalism isn’t really compatible with monarchy, certainly not in the long term.

The more I learn about monarchy, the more I realize that many self-proclaimed monarchists have no real understanding of what monarchy entails — and that it wouldn’t solve a single one of their problems.
