I'm thrilled. Excited about making new friends and networking with people from all over Central Asia. Saying something about the three days I spent is not a good idea, just feel the vibe from the pics. The project in which I participated is called "Young Voices of Central Asia," and it is run by UNICEF, ETF, EC and a "Yuksalish" deputy, in which young people from Central Asian countries discuss various issues and try to find solutions. I was a member of a climate change action team. Other CA countries have taught me more about climate issues in their countires. I'm feeling good. 🏛️At Stanford University and University of California, Berkeley, do students with high grade point averages (GPAs) receive more money from scholarships than those with lower GPAs? The two universities deal with financial aid and merit aid differently. Neither gives “general scholarships” except for athletes. Both are need aware. I will evaluate for undergraduate students under 24 years old. Essentially high school GPA becomes irrelevant since everyone has a perfect or virtually perfect GPA that get into either school. ⚡UC Berkeley This is a public college in the state of California which paid for in part by the tax payers of the state of California. It provides financial aid to legal residents (ONLY) of the state of California who show that their tax paying parents are poor. Assuming you are a legal resident of California, once the school has accepted you, your grades are not relevant, the poverty of your parents is. In other words a 4.0 student with rich parents will get nothing. A 3.95 student with dirt poor parents will get aid. YOU MUST BE A LEGAL RESIDENT to get ANY aid. Out of state students and international students are NOT eligible for financial aid. Practically EVERYONE has a 4.0 or a 3.95 that gets into Berkeley anyway so it is really not relevant to compare GPA’s. There are SOME merit scholarships based only on grades. Not many and not for much money. ⚡Stanford This is private university paid for entirely with tuition and endowments and that is NEED AWARE for international applicants and NEED BLIND for legal residents in the application process. That means if you are a legal resident and need aid you will not be discriminated against in the application process and if accepted all your needs will be provided for -which will also include loans and work study. Once again, if you get in your grades are not at issue - the poverty of your parents IS. If you are an international applicant your need for aid is evaluated as part of the application process and will count against you for admittance. IF you disclose you need money and are accepted you MAY be offered a package of loans and grants based on the poverty of your parents. There are MORE merit scholarships at Stanford than at Berkeley. They are also higher in amount. There are also more that international students are eligible for than at Berkeley. Stanford is also more expensive. However, just like Berkeley the difference in GPA among all admitted students is negligible - 3.95–4.0 (unweighted of course). The GPA generally does not matter.
