If you could travel at the speed of light (186,000 miles per second) it would take 100,000 years to cross our galaxy!

Since dark matter is invisible to human eye it can only be detected through its gravitational influence on its surroundings. Basically, it is really difficult for us to comprehend that 23 percent of known universe is made up of this mysterious dark matter (23% dark matter vs. just over 4% of visible matter with the rest being the mysterious dark energy)

There are at least 10^24 The magnetic field of a magnetar, a type of neutron star, is a thousand trillion times more powerful than Earth's. They are the most magnetic objects ever discovered, and if one was at the Moon's distance it would wipe all credit cards on Earth. Their colossal magnetic fields sometimes shift and rearrange themselves, causing star quakes on their surface, releasing powerful gamma rays. A star quake from a magnetar occurred in 2004, from 50,000 light years away on the other side of the Galaxy, it damaged satellites orbiting the Earth

Tycho, is the crater on the south side of the Moon that shows its crater rays at full Moon spreading out in all directions, it looks obvious because of its youth. The crater is 85 km wide, 4.8 km deep, with a 2.25 km high central peak. This is one of the youngest craters known as seen from Earth, at 108 million years old, it was created when a 8-10 km wide asteroid or comet slammed into the surface

Each cubic metre of air on Earth contains about 10 trillion trillion molecules. This falls to around 4 trillion trillion at the top of Mount Everest. A hundred kilometres up, sometimes considered to be the border of space, there are around a million trillion molecules per cubic metre. At the International Space Station, roughly 350 kilometres away, there are only around 10 trillion.

Saturn's rings are mostly made up of ice particles, ranging from very fine material up to huge mountain sized chunks half a mile across

The diameter of the observable Universe is currently estimated to be 93 billion light years. This is approximately 500,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 miles (500 sextillion miles).

Astronomers believe that the universe contains one atom for every 88 gallons of space.

In a few milliseconds or seconds, more energy is released when a star explodes in a gamma ray burst, than the Sun will emit in 10 billion years
