The 1st Africa Urban Forum, themed “Sustainable Urbanization for Africa’s Transformation – Agenda 2063,” will be held from September 4-6, 2024, at the Adwa Victory Memorial in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The theme emphasizes the potential of urbanization to drive inclusive, climate-resilient development, aligning with Agenda 2063's vision of a prosperous, integrated, and peaceful Africa. Sub-themes include financing urbanization for socio-economic transformation and promoting sustainable, resilient urban development. "Addis Ababa's sefer, iddir and gebbi". Anteneh Tesfaye (Phd, Architect/ Urban Designer) will present his research findings at the Institute of Ethiopian Studies on the 23rd of May 2024 from 2 to 4:30 pm. Sefer, Idir and Gibbi is a book that showcase the possibilities of theorizing Ethiopian urban livelihood , space making and design by foregrounding local practices of sociality and space making as sites of theorizing the urban from the global south.
