What about hoarding some other metals?
Ammo is the only metal that can become unobtainable at any price during a severe shortage, because a person's life is worth much more to themself than money.
Industrial metals such as copper and lead (as well as monetary gold) can be freely traded if you already have Silver; but if you don't have Silver, then these metals will usually still be available at whatever the market price is.
Silver, however, during a severe shortage, has already proven multiple times to go "out of stock" with little to no warning, and remain out of stock for days, weeks, or months at a time.
Hoarding metals other than Silver and ammo makes little sense when you can always just go to a metal recycler and get some copper, lead, brass, etc.

The DXY is a measure of USD against other world currencies.
Since crossing under 100 (break even) in early August, the dollar has been in a steady uptrend, putting downward pressure on the dollar price of monetary metals (Silver and gold).
All fiat currencies are hot garbage and get inflated away, but some are more garbage than others, and USD is a slightly more attractive garbage than most.
At some point, Silver and gold will rise together with the dollar, and this will signal that fiat currencies are collapsing worldwide.
