If a foreign army invaded this land, cut down the trees, poisoned the rivers, and forced children to grow up pledging allegiance to them, who wouldn’t take up arms against them? But when local executives and politicians do the same, patriots readily render their obedience, tax dollars, and children. Those who are blinded by patriotism will even die to do to others what they would never wish anyone to do to them.
