Imām ar-Rāzī: "The fourth doubt, how is it possible for Mūsā عليه السلام to command the magicians with to throw their ropes and staff while that is magic, and deception [through that] is disbelief, likewise command such is not permissible? Answer: The command was conditional and what is implied is: “throw what you wish to throw ‘if you are truthful’” similar to His statement, the Most High: “so come with a sūrah like it” i.e. ‘if you are able to’. Also, when it is set that way to uncover a doubt, it becomes permissible.” ['Ismah al-Anbiyā, 58]

اللهم أنزل رجزك وعذابك على من أمر بهذا وعلى من أفتى بهذا وعلى من قام بهذا وعلى من رضي بهذا وعلى من يدافع عن هذا وعلى من لا يرى بأسأ بهذا قال الحق جل جلاله ( ومن دخله كان آمنا ) فمن استحل حرمة الله ومن آمنه الله فقد ألحد في الحرم ( ومن يرد فيه بإلحاد بظلم نذقه من عذاب أليم )

Nu'aym bin Hammād was asked about the verse “no vision can perceive Him, but He perceives all visions”. He said: This is for this world! It was said: What is your proof? He said: Allāh is the everlasting, He created creation to end. Hence, it is not possible for them to look with an ending sight towards the everlasting. So once he recreates them, he will create them for eternity, then they will look with everlasting sight towards the everlasting.” [Sharh Usūl I'tiqād, Lālakā'ī 2/187]
