Upon the twelfth of September, the calendar yields a little to celebration, and the day assumes its own rosary of colour, sentiment, and festal ornament. The twenty-second year is ushered into its keeping, #Deva22InBloom becoming the little florilegium of this observance, and Deva Cassel’s birthday is received not with grandiloquence, but with the softer pageantry of gathered affection: a portrait lent to the occasion, a greeting set among the flowers, a passing presence made part of the observance.
