DOE today informed DHC that as on 01.03.2023 there are 16546 teaching posts lying vacant. Justice Manmeet Pritam Singh Arora today directed DOE and MCD to positively file within 4 weeks of vacancy positions and the steps taken to fill up the same. DSSSB is also directed to file affidavit stating the requisitions received by them from MCD and DOE and status thereof. If affidavits are not filed within 4 weeks the respondents shall pay costs of ₹25000 to the petitioner, Order says. These orders came on the Social Jurist Contempt petition. "Respondents not taking issues seriously. Even on date 16546 teaching posts are lying vacant. The new session will start from 01.04.2023 and the object of the 2001 HC order to have zero vacancy on the commencement of the session is elusive", Adv Ashok Agarwal submitted. Next date of hearing 23 May 2023.
