1) You do not need a homestead, a garden, an orchard, livestock, farming equipment, an armory, lots of acres, hectares or a cabin the woods. (Already have one or more of these? Fantastic!)
2) What you do need is determination and focus. Above all, we need the Lord to guide these steps. He will order our lives, knows the desires of our hearts and knows exactly what we need. Pray about everything!
3) Make lists –all kinds of lists. What do you dream about having? What can you do right now to add to your preps? Will other people be depending on you? Who? What will they need? Be honest: can you safely help others? How will you protect your goods?
What are the most obvious items you need? Start there first.
4) What do you already have that would be useful? Can you store non-food items in one location? (Be mindful of extreme temperatures.)
5) Start with having enough food, water, medicinal treatments, nutritional supplements, pet food, cash, and different fuels to last you two weeks without leaving the house. Then make it four weeks. Then six, and so on. The idea is to be able to take care of yourself, family, perhaps extended family and maybe some neighbors for at least two weeks in case you cannot leave your house.
You do not want to leave your house if the public is panicking over… an economic collapse, an alien invasion, a nuclear scare, or when a manmade disaster is unleashed. That is when it is time to batten down the hatches.

We have not had an extended power outage in warmer weather for a long time. The last time that happened, due to a hurricane, we did not have kids. Therefore, it was a good run-through to show us what we got right, and where we have some gaps.
You are most likely aware of some of the below highlights. Even so, it is good to review, look for any gaps in your preps, too. While I expect The Parasites to throw an alien invasion or a nuclear scare at us, the most common events to prepare for are job loss and natural (and manmade) disasters.
I cannot stress this enough: having physical preps is crucial because you are going to be expending a lot of energy on dealing with the mental drain of any crisis. If you have supplies, skills, as well as bartering goods and services taken care of, then this will allow you to better keep your wits -and minimize making hasty decisions out of fear or panic.
If you are not sure where to start, visit the camping section of a store or Army Surplus place to get inspired.
In absolutely no particular order…

Father God - Strange things are afoot. The air is foul, the food is tainted and the skies are polluted. Lovers of self slither towards more unholiness. The lies are piling high. Murder and mayhem crowd our streets.
We ask for supernatural protection, in the name of Jesus. Keep us safe from the thieves, the snitches, the prideful, the filth pushers and the body poisoners.
Protect us and our beloved in our comings and goings. Bring us home safely each time, and prepare our nights to be restful as we place our trust in You.
Help us to do things for Your glory. Give us the ear to hear Your callings, and the courage to be obedient to You. Let our spirits be so in tune with You that we immediately recognize the enemy’s trappings.
But, allow us mostly, to immediately act to help those in need. Ready us to share the Hope that lives in us!
Let us be Your hands and feet, moving about to demonstrate the love of Christ. Remind us we are to have a servant’s heart.
Give us understanding of the Resurrection Power that flows in us, and show us how to pray mightily in the name of Jesus! To call down demonic strongholds! To speak healing! To claim what is rightly ours as Your children!
Move, Lord, across the nations. Humble leaders and bring down the haughty. Let the world see You, clearly, undeniably, completely. Change minds and renew hearts. Bring reconciliation among friends and family. Purge the unclean from the churches.
We need You! Every hour. Every day.
We pray this in the precious name of Jesus.

5. Breathe Steam with Thyme
Thyme has a wide variety of benefits, including:

Breathing a steam, rich with thyme, can help expel foreign substances, clear passageways, and reduce the irritation level of your sinuses. The simplest way to create thyme-filled steam is to add 1 – 2 TBS of thyme to a large bowl.
Pour in boiling water. Lower your head so it’s inches from the hot water. Cover head and bowl with a large towel, trapping steam under the towel. Breathe deeply for 1 – 2 minutes. Repeat as needed.

Detoxing after smoke exposure is essential to your long-term and short term health. Detox solutions can include:

10 Ways to Detox Your Lungs After Wildfire Smoke Inhalation
1. Water. Drink LOTS of Water
Drink water. Drink LOTS of water. This is not a new mantra. It’s not a revolutionary tip. You’ve probably heard it hundreds of times before. Unfortunately, the vast majority of individuals are dehydrated. This is particularly an issue when you’re trying to detox after the harmful effects of fire.
Wildfire smoke inhalation causes microscopic particles to get trapped in your lungs. They can get into your bloodstream. And, they can travel throughout your body contaminate other organs.
Water helps flush these particles from your system. Ten, 8-ounce glasses of water is a good target in general. If you’re detoxing, aim to increase this intake to 12 or 14 glasses.
Drinking hot liquids can stimulate mucous and saliva, helping to eradicate contaminants.
2. Drink Hot Liquids
Cilia are a short eyelash-like filament that covers the tissue of cells. When operating correctly, they beat in unison, creating a current that can move particles throughout the body (via Encyclopedia Britannica).
When there is a decrease in air quality, it can cause the cilium (plural for cilia) to stop moving. Hot liquids can encourage the cilium to start moving again. This can promote the movement (and removal) of mucous and saliva, which often contains high levels of contaminants.
Bonus Tip: A good ‘hot liquid’ drink can be made by steeping Slippery Elm and Marshmallow Root in hot water. These two herbs support, moisten, and relax the fragile tissues in your mouth, throat, and lungs.
3. Use a Saline Nasal Spray
It’s easy for smoke exposure to cause irritated sinuses, irritation to the eyes, and shortness of breath. A saline nasal spray can help you moisten and soothe the inside of your nose. This can promote the expulsion of foreign matter and provide immediate relief

Think of a neti pot as a nasal spray on steroids. In short – a neti pot allows you to perform a thorough, natural nasal rinse. It helps you remove foreign substances. When you’re exposed to smoke, pollutants can easily get trapped in your nasal passage.

Took Felix to the doctor Friday and confirmed he’s passing a stone. On our way home the office called and told us to head right over to get a CAT scan. Unfortunately Felix has not been able to connect with the office so we don’t know how big the stone is.
We’ve been praying and believing that the stone will break up so he won’t need surgery. He is doing ACV and an olive oil/real lemon juice combo. The intensity of the pain fluctuates, and I wish he wouldn’t push himself working around the home and outside, but he said it helps keep his mind off the discomfort.
Thank you for your warm (!) thoughts and prayers. Thank you also for the admins who kindly lend their time and hand. We are humbled by your friendships 😊

Hi friends! I’m able to be on here briefly thanks to my adorable IT Nerd. (And you know I call him this out of love otherwise we wouldn’t have been together for the last 25 years 😊) I don’t know how he did it, but I can be on here for a few moments.
You’d think I’d be online looking up Macgyver hacks, or tips for how to make ice cream reappear, or what to do to keep my brain from melting, but no, I’ve been looking up good news stuff to report for The Liberty Tavern.
I’m sorry for those who continue to be impacted by the heat, haze and smoky skies. I’m praying for your relief!
From what I understand, straight line winds clocking in at around 80-90 mph hit our area. Thank goodness it was a super fast moving storm! We live in an area with a lot of mature trees, and sadly quite a few were lost.
A tree fell on a line down my street so it’s taking longer than usual to get repaired.
We are thankful we have a generator and we’ve had enough gasoline to operate it these last couple of days (has it only been 2 days so far?!) though we don’t have it on continuously.
This has been a good test for off-grid preparedness as it’s been awhile since we’ve been without power this long. I’m making notes and will share some hopefully helpful observations as soon as I am able.
