There's something special about having Bunny.
The three week old rabbit appeared in our lives at a time when all of us were trying to understand the turmoil we had just endured, when Felix and I were not quite steady on our feet, when thoughts and emotions were still left guarded behind heavy hearts. She helped us turn our inward focus, outward, seeing the beauty of new life, new beginnings.
She survived in our care that first week when, unbeknownst to us at the time, most babies would have perished. Continued research would turn up that Eastern Cottontails are not meant to be a family's pet. Little by little, an adjustment here and there, we are learning how best to take care of her -an animal that is naturally shy, skittish, with solitary wildness coded into her genes.
From the beginning of her arrival I pray about her and over her. I have asked God for direction on whether or not we should even keep her. I rebuke her fear in the name of Jesus. I tell her she's so brave and that we love her. Who knew praying for animals could be so rewarding?!
Early tomorrow morning I will be dropping her off at the vet to get her fixed. I'm nervous that almost six months of earning the small token of trust she's gifted us will be replaced with melancholy withdrawal.
I know it's strange to say, but she's a heaven-sent gift. And if our patience and encouragement persuades her that she is cherished... Well, the world just seems a little bit better.

Q: Will you expand your online presence? Do videos or chats?
A: Thank you for the compliment that you think I should branch out more. I’m amazed there are those who manage to be… everywhere. It really is a full time job, and some have a knack for it. I have thought about doing chats or even recording encouraging remarks, however finding the time is definitely challenging. Plus, the chance of hearing kids in the background is pretty high. Listening to me munch on some cookies is 100%.
Telegram has a few drawbacks, but remains one of the most user-friendly platforms I’ve encountered. There are many features I have yet to tap into due to… time! I just assume those who can make thousands of memes, alter videos, and post 8 billion posts a day must not have kids in the house. (My kids can interrupt themselves while they’re interrupting me. It’s mesmerizing!)
God gave me the love of writing, though professional writers cringe over the grammatical errors and made up spelling. But, I write from the heart on whatever He is impressing upon me to share. This tells me that someone, somewhere needs the message only He can convey. I’m afraid if I tried to verbally discuss the thoughts swirling around my head I would sound pretty derp, derp. It’s better for all for me to sit at a keyboard to sort it all out.
I’m a graphic tee shirt wearing kinda gal so I have thought about creating some unique t-shirts, and I have thought about making a simple cookbook. However, I have been concerned about these ideas looking like a grift.
God is simply calling me to be me. Goofiness and all. If others can relate, if others are encouraged and inspired, if others see God in the writing, then I press on, being as surprised as you what comes forth.
He’s calling all of us to be who He made us to be. No need to do what everyone else is doing. Just be you. That’s enough.

Connecting with others. Putting my bare feet on the ground, the sun on my face and enjoying life all around me.

A safe home filled with people you adore. Knowing you are seen by your Heavenly Father. Using the gifts He has given you to bless and serve others. Being outside with the warm sun on your skin, breathing in fresh air. Dancing to a song that makes you smile. Spending time sharing your heart with a trusted friend. A warm mug of coffee with a handle that fits perfectly in your hand… It’s the little things. That’s what makes life good. 💜

Q: I’m really scared about the future… I have so many friends and family who won’t listen to me… there are so many threats… How do we prepare for all the things they have planned for us?
A: Fear is very tangible, isn’t it? Fear is mentally draining, and takes such a physical toll on us. I totally understand the fear that wants to wash over you. It’s very easy to give in to the siren’s call. However, as God’s children we know our Heavenly Father tells us not be afraid. So at some point when we’re in the midst of being pulled under by these waves of fear we need to make a choice: be obedient to God’s instruction to not fear or disregard His call to trust Him.
The bible shows us those God blessed for being faithful. I also believe He blesses us for our honesty. That is, when we confess to Him that we are weak and need help believing and trusting. I don’t know about you but every time I make a decision out of fear or anger, I regret it. Those hard lessons help push me towards obeying Him.
Remember, we cannot hold ourselves responsible for the choices others make. God holds us accountable for our choices, our thoughts, our actions. For example, when you share the gospel with someone (in a gentle and respective manner as Peter tells us) it’s that individual’s choice to accept or reject. You cannot force, manipulate or cajole. What you can do is pray for them. Praying is what we are all called to do and it means everything!
We are facing possible threats. When it comes to prepping, one should consider the most likely scenario they’re prepping for, which for most of us will be inclement weather, natural disasters and job loss.
Over the years I’ve read of oh so many EOTWAWKI (End Of The World As We Know It) hazards. I’ve been caught up in the buzz and bustle of prepping for such troubles, making poor choices because fear was driving me. There are some scenarios that are too much Chicken Little™, too much fear-rousing by folks who sell fear and capitalize on it. Learn to recognize those who stir the fear inside of you. They are not your friend.
"On Living in an Atomic Age," by CS Lewis is such sage advice, in my humble opinion. I refuse to give in to the fear. I refuse to let fear steal valuable time away from my husband and children. I refuse to let fear keep me from living contentedly. Remember, darkness feeds off our fear. Choose hope. Hope is simply standing on the promises of God.
Fear costs us, so is it worth surrendering to the fear?
What if… your worst scenario doesn’t happen? What if… what they have planned for us is used against them? God has done it before (Esther 7:1-10). Why couldn’t He do it for us?
What if you every time you started to feel afraid, you praised God? How would your life look?
Work on changing your perspective. Pray for His mercy (Genesis 18:16-19:38). Thank God for springing the trap on our enemies. Thank Him for being a just and righteous God. Thank Him for His holiness and perfection. Thank Him for the blessings in your life. Thank Him for helping you overcome the fear. Thank Him for His patience. Thank Him for loving you.
