Democracy does not work as people are too easily fooled. The media decides who gets airtime, who gets praised and so who gets elected. It's just a popularity contest based on superficial factors. The number one issue by far apart from immigration according to polls is housing, then the cost of living and heathcare. These issues have been caused by the record mass immigration to Ireland. (The highest immigration level in the world as a % of population in 2023). Yet no candidate who is genuinely critical of Ireland's immigration policy will be elected in the European elections. The candidates who will be elected who talk about immigration only do so for votes: Niall Boylan, Michael McNamara and possibly Peadar Tóibín.
