Machine learning is a field of study that enables computers to learn and make predictions or decisions without explicitly programmed instructions. It focuses on developing algorithms and models that can learn patterns and relationships from data and apply that knowledge to make predictions or take actions. 2. Types of Machine Learning: a) Supervised Learning: Supervised learning is a type of machine learning where the model learns from labeled data to make predictions. It involves a target variable (output) and features (input variables). There are two main types: - Classification: Predicting categorical labels. For example, classifying whether an email is spam or not. - Regression: Predicting continuous numeric values. For example, predicting house prices based on size and location. b) Unsupervised Learning: Unsupervised learning involves learning patterns and relationships from unlabeled data. There are two main types: - Clustering: Grouping similar data points together based on their features. For example, clustering customer segments based on buying behavior. - Dimensionality reduction: Reducing the number of features while preserving relevant information. For example, reducing high-dimensional data to visualize it. c) Reinforcement Learning: Reinforcement learning is about training an agent to make decisions in an interactive environment to maximize rewards.
