Why local AI is the future of sovereign and specialized intelligence The local AI landscape has reached a critical inflection point where high-performance models and sophisticated harnesses now allow frontier-level intelligence to run on consumer and workstation hardware. This shift is driven by the need for data sovereignty, cost predictability for "always-on" agents, and the ability to maintain performance without internet dependency. As open-source models close the gap with proprietary cloud offerings, the focus is shifting toward specialized, in-domain learners that outperform generalized models in specific professional contexts. Microsoft Teams screen sharing bug impacts macOS users in government clouds Microsoft has identified a persistent bug in Teams for macOS that causes screen-sharing sessions to freeze, fail, or display as a blank black screen. The issue predominantly affects organizations operating within Microsoft 365 Government environments, including GCC, GCC High, and DoD tenants. Automating the identification of obsolete SharePoint Online sites with PowerShell Identifying obsolete SharePoint Online sites is a common administrative challenge that requires more than just checking the last modified date. The standard LastModifiedDateTime property is often unreliable because background system processes frequently update it without any actual user interaction. To gain an accurate view of site activity, administrators should instead combine site information from the SharePoint Online management module with usage data from the Microsoft Graph API. How to change Night Light’s colour temperature during the day on Ubuntu Night Light Scheduler is a new GNOME Shell extension that lets you control how warm your screen is throughout different parts of the evening (or day). GNOME’s built-in Night Light feature has a customisable schedule, and it lets you set a colour temperature that’s very orange, or less orange to filter out blue light. But that temperature holds the entire time Night Light is switched on. It eases in and out at each end but never changes in between. For most use cases, the default behaviour is fine; set and forget to a schedule. But if you wish you could […] You're reading How to change Night Light’s colour temperature during the day on Ubuntu, a blog post from OMG! Ubuntu. 📰 Ubuntu 26.10 retires dbus-daemon after 22 year run as default Ubuntu 26.10 is replacing its D-Bus implementation for the first time since 2004, swapping dbus-daemon for dbus-broker – a change end-users are unlikely to notice. Processes on your desktop talk to each other and to the host system using D-Bus, a ‘message’ bus. This is what the Ubuntu Dock uses to show unread-count badges for apps, what tells your desktop a USB drive has been plugged in, and so on. Two buses are in play. 🔗 Source: #ubuntu 👉@sysadminoff https://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2026/07/ubuntu-26-10-dbus-broker

📰 I ditched Chrome and Firefox for this snappy open-source browser, and it exceeded expectations Google Chrome might be one of the three most recognizable web browsers for Windows, topping Microsoft's pre-installed Edge and Mozilla Firefox, built on the Gecko engine. While Chrome and Edge share the Chromium underpinnings, they aren't the lone exemplars of the engine's capabilities. Since Chromium is open-source, it has spawned an array of web browsers that hope to edge out Chrome (pun intended) with distinct features. 🔗 Source: #chromium #firefox #opensource 👉@sysadminoff https://www.xda-developers.com/i-ditched-chrome-and-firefox-for-this-snappy-open-source-browser-and-it-exceeded-expectations/
