Losses from the Coldcard Mk3 vulnerability have now climbed to 2,000 BTC (≈$130M).
Dragonfly partner Haseeb Qureshi reported that he was able to identify the root cause of the vulnerability in the Coldcard code using an AI assistant in just 8 minutes, spending only about $2 in inference costs. He later repeated the analysis offline, confirming the bug in around 20 minutes.
The incident highlights how AI is dramatically lowering the barrier for auditing—and potentially exploiting—software vulnerabilities.
