Federated Farmers president for Gisborne and Wairoa, Toby Williams said “Berry growers have been severely affected” though “meat production should be unaffected” - In the Auckland region, heavy wind and rain has been hitting the country since before Christmas, spoiling the season for crop harvesters - President of the Pukekohe Growers Association, Kirit Makan - The temporary closure of the Kapuni liquid carbon dioxide plant is concerning for drink-makers. The plant has been New Zealand's only domestic producer of food-grade CO2 since the Marsden Point refinery was decommissioned last year. Just before Christmas it temporarily shut down over safety concerns and has no reopening date at this stage. - Dr. Guy Hatchard weighs in on how the Therapeutic Products Bill will affect the availability of natural health products ⚖️ Justice - A man has been sentenced to 12 months jail for taking 'upskirt' videos of unsuspecting girls as young as 10 years old at a shopping mall. It’s “able to infect and evade immunity from vaccines" said Dr Siouxsie Wiles. - A Wellington medical company is running a trial of a combined vaccine for both flu and Covid-19. “we know that probably they can be given together but we don't know the optimum doses." The trial is taking place at nine different sites in New Zealand plus various sites in Australia, and would include 1600 people across both countries. 🐵 Monekypox - Medical practitioners will be able to prescribe a ‘monkeypox vaccine’ for eligible at-risk people from the 16th of January. Although the ‘vaccine’ has not yet been approved by NZ medicines regulator Medsafe 5000 vials of the ‘vaccine’ had been obtained, enough for up to 20,000 people. There have been 41 reported cases of monkeypox in New Zealand as of the 9th of January. 🚫 Mandates - Update: Of the 253 people were arrested in relation to ‘protest activity’ in and around Parliament Grounds between 9 February and 4 March; 160 people have had charges withdrawn and 42 people still have active prosecutions for one or more charge. - A golf coach who was dismissed for not getting the ‘Covid-19 jab’ will receive more than $15,000 from his former employer after successfully arguing his dismissal was unjustified. The club was ordered to pay $15,000 compensation for humiliation, loss of dignity and injury to feelings, as well as two months wages.
