Inter-Ministry Sepak Takraw quarterfinals begin
THE 2026 Inter-Ministry Men’s Sepak Takraw Championship continued at Gymnasium A of the Wunna Theikdhi Sports Complex in Nay Pyi Taw, with the final group-stage matches and first-round knockout games held yesterday.
In the final groupstage matches of the men’s three-player team event, teams representing the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Industry, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Ethnic Affairs, Ministry of Health, Central Bank of Myanmar, Ministry of Electricity and Energy, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Construction, and Ministry of Digital Development and Communications recorded victories.
In the first-round knockout matches, teams representing the Ministry of Sports, Ministry of Border Affairs, Ministry of Transport, Central Bank of Myanmar, Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Construction, and Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism advanced with wins.
The quarter-finals will begin at 10 am on 5 September. The Ministry of Sports will face the Ministry of Border Affairs, the Ministry of Transport will meet the Central Bank of Myanmar, the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation will take on the Ministry of Defence, and the Ministry of Construction will play the Ministry of Culture, Hotels and Tourism. The semi-finals will follow the quarter-finals.

| 3 | Hlegu Farms Supply 120,000 Eggs, 4,000 Viss Chickens Each Day
A poultry farm operated by Ngasu Taung Co Ltd in Hlegu Township, Yangon Region, is producing and distributing 120,000 eggs and 4,000 viss of chicken daily to help meet food supply needs in Yangon Region.
“The Yangon Region government is supporting livestock businesses to maintain stable production and ensure food security. According to Dr Aung Myo Han, Director of the Livestock Breeding and Veterinary Department of Yangon Region, poultry farms are being supervised to ensure production follows proper livestock farming practices, including the use of quality breeds, systematic feed management, disease prevention and control, proper record-keeping and the development of consumer-friendly markets.
There are currently more than 2.6 million hens at 326 commercial layer farms and more than 6.6 million broiler chickens at 1,282 commercial broiler farms across Yangon Region. Hlegu and Hmawby townships are the main poultry-producing areas.
The Ngasu Taung poultry farm in Hlegu Township has 150,000 broilers and 150,000 layers and produces 120,000 eggs and 4,000 viss of chicken daily. In addition, 13 Myanmar Green Light poultry farms produce more than 58,000 eggs daily. These farms, together with other poultry farms, supply the Yangon consumer market and help meet local food demand.

| 4 | 17 PDFs rejoin society in South-East Command
A total of 17 individuals – 16 men and one woman affiliated with the PDF group – along with weapons and ammunition, returned to the legal fold yesterday. A ceremony to hand them back to their parents and guardians was held at Aung San Hall of the SouthEast Command Headquarters, attended by Mon State Chief Minister U Aung Win Than, Commander BrigGen Thura Zaw Lwin Soe and officials.
The chief minister delivered an opening speech, followed by an explanatory discussion on the relevant laws by the commander. Subsequently, the returnees handed over the weapons and equipment they had brought with them, comprising one M-16 rifle, two carbines, four 9mm pistols, one .38-calibre pistol, one handmade pistol, four hand grenades, three walkie-talkies, six magazines and 66 rounds of various types of ammunition. The items were received by the chief minister, the commander and officials.
Following this, the chief minister and the commander presented cash rewards and gifts, including K15 million for three automatic rifles, K0.5 million for one handmade gun, K10 million for five pistols, K1.2 million for four hand grenades and K0.6 million for three walkie-talkies, totalling K27.3 million, along with incentive rewards for the 17 returnees, who accepted the items. Afterwards, the returnees signed bonds of undertaking and were formally handed back to their parents and guardians. One of the returnees then delivered a concluding vote of thanks.
There are still individuals who wish to return to the legal fold. Those who intend to do so are encouraged to promptly contact and report to the nearest Tatmadaw bases or police stations. They will be welcomed and accepted, provided with the necessary assistance and support, and offered cash rewards for any arms and ammunition they surrender.

| 6 | Parliamentary committees gear up for sessions
THE coordination meeting 2/2026 of the Central Committee and Working Committees on organizing the Hluttaw sessions was held yesterday at the Zabuthiri Hall of the Hluttaw Building in Nay Pyi Taw.
In his opening speech, Pyidaungsu Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe, who is also Patron of the Central Committee on Convening Hluttaw Sessions, called on all committees to closely coordinate preparations for the Third Regular Sessions, scheduled to begin on 21 September. Hluttaw representatives are expected to arrive in Nay Pyi Taw between 18 and 20 September.
The meeting reviewed preparations for accommodation, security, transport, communications and e-voting systems, healthcare and food safety, venue maintenance, media coverage and uninterrupted electricity supply.
Relevant officials from the respective working committees reported on preparations for the upcoming sessions. The Patron also gave further guidance and urged all committees to work together to ensure the sessions are conducted successfully and efficiently.

| 8 | Myanmar Hluttaw representatives participate in capacity development programme in Indian Parliament
A Myanmar delegation comprising Dr Pwint San, Chairman of the International Relations Committee of the Pyithu Hluttaw; U Chit Swe, Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee of the Amyotha Hluttaw; representatives from the Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw; Tatmadaw representatives; and support staff is participating in a capacity development programme at the Indian Parliament from 1 to 8 September.
During the visit, the Myanmar Hluttaw representatives discussed the role of Parliament in Indian politics and administration, including legislation, committee systems, financial committees, constituency governance, communication with institutions such as state legislatures, the Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLADS), and parliamentary rights.
The delegation also met Shri Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the lower house of India’s Parliament, at Parliament House. They visited parliamentary buildings, libraries and art museums. Such study tours will further enhance the capabilities of Hluttaw representatives and contribute to the development of Hluttaw activities.

| 10 | Chin State accelerates rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts
THE State is focusing on accelerating rehabilitation and reconstruction work in Chin State and has formed committees to supervise the work on the ground.
Speaking at a meeting with religious leaders and village elders at the Falam District General Administration Department, Deputy Minister for Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Dr Thant Zaw Lwin said partially damaged departmental buildings were being repaired, while corrugated iron sheets and cement were being provided for damaged residential houses. Rice, oil and other food items were also being distributed to people who had returned home, using funds from the National Disaster Management Fund. He stressed the need to step up rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts, learn from past experiences and rebuild better.
Chin State Minister for Natural Resources U Win Zaw Oo and members of the Chin State Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Committee explained the work being carried out in Falam Township. Representatives of relevant ministries, religious leaders and village elders also reported on the tasks, while the deputy minister and state minister coordinated with the relevant departments.
The deputy minister and the state minister visited Falam Township Municipal Market and observed the sale of vegetables, meat and fish. They also inspected the Social Welfare Department’s primary school, where officials explained the damage to the building and teaching aids. The deputy minister coordinated the necessary assistance and instructed officials to reopen the school as soon as possible.
At Saint Joseph’s Primary School, officials explained the arrangements for receiving and teaching more than 30 students. The deputy minister and the state minister provided financial assistance to the school.

A Myanmar delegation led by U Soe Thein, Chairman of the Anti-Corruption Commission, attended the 11th Eastern Economic Forum and related meetings held in Vladivostok, the Russian Federation, from 1 to 4 September.
On 2 September, the Myanmar delegation met a delegation led by the Prosecutor-General of the Russian Federation and signed the Anti-Corruption Cooperation Programme for 2027-2028.
The signing event aims to strengthen cooperation between Myanmar and Russia through staff training, experience and technical exchanges, contributing to stronger friendship, mutual trust and capacity building between the two countries.
At noon, U Soe Thein attended a working luncheon hosted by Russian Prosecutor-General Mr AV Gutsan.
On 3 September, he also participated in a related session organized by the Prosecutor- General’s Office of the Russian Federation, titled “Reducing Economic Risks as a Foundation for National Economic Development”. He then attended the plenary session of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum on “Promoting Economic Development for People in the Far East Economic Region”.

President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing, leading a high-level delegation on an official visit to Viet Nam at the invitation of Vietnamese President Mr To Lam and his spouse, visited Vietnamese automobile manufacturer VinFast and telecommunications group Viettel in Hanoi yesterday afternoon.
The delegation travelled from Hanoi to Hai Phong, observing Viet Nam’s transport infrastructure, land use, agricultural activities and the development of industries linked to agriculture along the route.
At VinFast’s manufacturing facility, the delegation was welcomed by Vingroup Vice-Chairwoman Madam Duong Thi Hoan, VinFast Chairman and CEO Mr Pham Nhat Quan Anh and other officials. The company briefed the delegation on its history, vehicle and motorcycle production, and domestic and international markets.
President U Min Aung Hlaing said he was pleased to learn about VinFast’s development and expressed his intention to explore opportunities for increased economic cooperation between Myanmar and Viet Nam, including potential cooperation with VinFast.
The delegation toured the factory and observed vehicle production processes, including metal forming, body assembly, painting and final assembly, which use automated systems and robotic technology.
The Hai Phong plant, located in Cat Hai, covers more than 500,000 square metres. Construction began in September 2017 and was completed within 21 months, with production starting in June 2019. The facility also includes battery manufacturing operations supporting VinFast’s electric vehicle production.
The delegation later visited Viettel, where it was welcomed by Vietnamese Deputy Defence Minister Sr Lt-Gen Nguyen Quang Ngoc and Viettel Group Chairman and CEO Lt-Gen Tao Duc Thang.
Officials briefed the Myanmar delegation on Viettel’s cooperation with Myanmar through Mytel, including the development of telecommunications networks and broader cooperation between the two countries.
Lt-Gen Tao Duc Thang expressed Viettel’s desire to further expand cooperation with Mytel, particularly in digital technology, digital connectivity and digital transport.
President U Min Aung Hlaing said Myanmar would continue supporting the development of telecommunications networks and encouraged investment in technology-related sectors, including at technology special zones such as Yadanabon Cyber City.
He also called for existing bilateral agreements to be fully implemented and cooperation to be continuously expanded.

Ahigh-level Myanmar delegation led by President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing and Spouse Daw Kyu Kyu Hla left Nay Pyi Taw Airport by special aircraft yesterday morning to pay an official visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam at the invitation of President of SRV Mr To Lam and his spouse.
The President and the delegation were seen off at the airport by Vice-President Nan Ni Ni Aye, Pyithu Hluttaw Speaker U Khin Yi and his wife, Amyotha Hluttaw Speaker U Aung Lin Dwe and his wife, Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Ye Win Oo and his wife, Union ministers and their wives, the commander of the Nay Pyi Taw Command and officials from the Embassy of Viet Nam to Myanmar.
The President was accompanied by Union Ministers U Khin Maung Yi, U Tin Maung Swe, U Min Naung, Dr Charlie Than and U Tun Ohn, senior Tatmadaw officers from the Office of the Commander-in-Chief, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Aung Naing Thu, deputy ministers and officials.
The special aircraft carrying the President-led high-level Myanmar delegation arrived at Noi Bai International Airport in Hanoi at about 12.30 pm local standard time. They were warmly welcomed by senior officials led by Mr Lê Khánh Hi, Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Viet Nam and Minister at the Office of the President of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam and officials, the Vietnamese Ambassador to Myanmar, Myanmar Ambassador to Viet Nam U Wai Lin and his wife, Myanmar Military Attachés (Army, Navy and Air) Brig-Gen Zaw Min and officials.
During the welcome ceremony, members of the Guard of Honour of Viet Nam took their positions and saluted on both sides of the red carpet in accordance with traditional protocol for welcoming and honouring Heads of State. They also presented bouquets as gifts to welcome President of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar U Min Aung Hlaing and Spouse Daw Kyu Kyu Hla upon their arrival.
