If your estimated tax liability for FY 2026-27 is more than ₹10,000, you generally need to pay advance tax during the year. By September 15, 45% of your estimated annual tax liability should generally have been paid cumulatively. Example: Tax liability ₹1 lakh Already paid in June: ₹15,000 Total required by Sept 15: ₹45,000 Today’s payment: ₹30,000 Investors, check this especially if you have earned capital gains, interest, rental income or other income beyond your salary. 🟪🟩🟦🟧🟨🟥🔷🟪🟩🟦🟧🟨 ➡️Income Tax Return Filing Analysis – FY 2025-26 (as on 31-08-2026) 1️⃣ As on 31-08-2026, total ITRs filed reached 7.81 crore (78,174,325), compared to 4.18 crore (41,821,225) on 31-08-2025. 2️⃣This shows an extraordinary increase of 3.63 crore returns, representing a growth of approximately 86.93% over the previous year. 3️⃣Out of the estimated 9.18 crore total returns expected for FY 2025-26, about 85.16% have already been filed by 31 August 2026. 4️⃣Only around 1.37 crore returns remain to be filed to reach the projected 9.18 crore total. 5️⃣Filing momentum accelerated sharply during the last week of August, indicating taxpayers were taking advantage of the extended filing period. 6️⃣Daily filing volumes increased significantly from around 2–4 lakh per day in early August to over 35 lakh filings on 31 August alone. 7️⃣The period from 24 August to 31 August witnessed the strongest filing activity, contributing more than 1 crore additional returns. 8️⃣The sharp rise suggests improved taxpayer compliance, wider digital adoption, and effective use of pre-filled return facilities. 9️⃣Compared with FY 2024-25, the current year is on track to achieve a record-high return filing count, despite the delayed filing pattern. 1️⃣0️⃣If the current trend continues, FY 2025-26 may comfortably cross the 9 crore mark, making it one of the highest ITR filing years in India's history. 🚨SEBI’s latest F&O data is out. 1) 87.7% of traders still lost money, down from 90.9%. 2) 93% of F&O traders are only option buyers. 3) ₹2.03 lakh crore was lost by individual traders over FY25-FY26. 4) The trader base fell 18%, from 106.2 lakh to 87.5 lakh, the first decline since FY16. 5) Individual STT payments jumped 35% to ₹6,645 crore, while brokerage’s share of transaction costs fell from 52% to 44%.

*DIRECT TAX COLLECTION UPDATE | FY27* ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ 🇮🇳 Direct tax collections as of 10 Aug 2026 *• Gross Direct Tax Collection:* ₹9.55 lakh crore →Up 19.75% YoY vs ₹7.97 lakh crore last year. *• Net Direct Tax Collection:* ₹8.11 lakh crore →Up a strong 23.09% YoY vs ₹6.59 lakh crore. *• Corporate Tax (Net):* ₹2.70 lakh crore →Vs ₹2.26 lakh crore last year. *• Non-Corporate Tax (Net):* ₹5.07 lakh crore →Vs ₹4.11 lakh crore last year. *• Securities Transaction Tax (STT):* ₹33,824 crore →Vs ₹22,354 crore last year — strong growth in STT collections. *• Refunds:* ₹1.43 lakh crore →Up 3.79% YoY. _*Net direct tax collections have grown 23.09% YoY so far in FY27, indicating strong tax revenue momentum.*_
