New post on /r/flutterdev subreddit: Just accepted my first offer out of college and it's a mobile developer position that uses flutter! Will this in anyway hurt my career? I like what I see from Flutter but if it doesn't take off I'd like to be able to easily get a job doing something else like React/Java/C#. Basically the title. I just landed my first gig and they wanted a mobile developer. I don't know Flutter at all but they hired me and expect me to learn it on the job. I'm excited about everything, but I'm worried about my future career prospects. I don't mind switching to another language completely, in fact, I'd be willing to do anything for a decent work/life balance, pay and location, but I'm worried if using Flutter will pigeon-hole me or make me look like an unattractive candidate compared to the guys who've worked with enterprise C# or Java. New post on /r/flutterdev subreddit: Why is GetX hated ? Hey my fellow flutter devs. I've been working with flutter from the past 7 months n I just discovered a package called Get/GetX for UI and State Management. Since there were a few issues I ran into while using I asked the community a question regarding that and the amount of hate I received for the package was extreme. I'm kinda in a doubtful phase do I use it for further processes or not. Why is it getting hated soo much October 16, 2021 at 07:20AM by Vdx__ https://ift.tt/3DMRSu1

New post on /r/flutterdev subreddit: Technical Interview for Flutter I have a Flutter Technical Interview in the next two weeks. It would be like screen sharing and writing code and all.I have built four apps in Flutter - pretty heavy duty and have good knowledge about state management and UI.My question is what should I prepare for this interview? I know there is always something to learn and I want to do my beat in the interview and job.For example, I love to use Provider as State Management and don't like Streams at all. Would it be wise to tell the same to the interviewer if they ask me about Streams? This is my first time giving a live technical interview like this. So if you have any experience on how should I approach it and how to prepare well, I would love you to share.Thanks. October 15, 2021 at 08:39PM by ravgeet https://ift.tt/3aJDtlM

New post on /r/flutterdev subreddit: Riverpod Based Localization / Translation with Flutter Localizations Example Hey Everyone,I've had major issues with the easy_localization package since upgrading to null safety. So I took the plunge into implementing Flutter's built in library for localization / internationalization. There is more boilerplate code, but the generator makes autocompleting your string id's really great. I was also evaluating switching to the i18n_extension package, which appears to be newer and more maintained. But my app needs to support a lot of users in 8 languages, so I wanted a more bulletproof approach tightly matching my Riverpod state management with less magic behind the scenes abstraction.I realize when you change languages in those plugins, you have the benefit of only rebuilding the text strings. The drawback with my approach is that the "watch" function is above MaterialApp. But this works fine for me, because if the language changes, my app needs to re-initialize and fetch a ton of data from the server in the updated language / locale. So the experience wouldn't improve with those plugins.I created an example basic app that uses Riverpod to handle state of the current locale, and StateNotifier to update the app when the locale is changed. The Locale is also saved to persistence for the next app use.It will also attempt to initialize from the platform locale (on web and mobile), and use the closest language if the exact locale is not available, with a fallback option for no matches. Here's The Example: There's more in the README file.https://github.com/mdrideout/Riverpod-Localization October 15, 2021 at 05:29PM by boon4376 https://ift.tt/2YXEOTU

Currently working with Typescript, React and Angular.I could be switched to a project that is written with Flutter. I planned to watch some courses over the weekend. I know that two days are not enough but I just need to get familiar with the basics.I hope you could recommend me some tutorials or courses to watch and share any tips.I am using webstorm for frontend development and planning to use it also for the flutter apps. New post on /r/flutterdev subreddit: Should I code my app in Dart or use Flutterflow? I am mostly proficient with backend work but also have built a fair number of front-end SPAs using Angular, React, and VueJS.I am about to start working on an app that is roughly on par with Instagram in terms of complexity and number of screens. (And, if you think about it, Instagram is pretty simple app compared to other social media apps.) My app will talk to a REST API server, and will use a private OAuth 2.0 server for auth. It will display some charts, graphs, tables, and allow salespeople in the field to pull up CRM records. Target platforms are Android, iOS and... a web app would be nice but from what I'm reading there are problems with web apps in Flutter so I guess I'll build native Mac/Windows apps for desktop.I took a look at Flutterflow (GUI for Flutter app developer similar to Webflow for web sites) and it looks really impressive. I'm wondering if I could pull off building an app with that, instead of making the investment of time time to learn the ins and outs of Dart.I certainly have the chops to learn Dart and write the entire app in code, but learning a new language is always time consuming. I honestly don't relish the idea of spending 40-50 hours immersed in tutorials making a Hello World app. In this case, I really am more focused on just delivering a solid app, than I am in becoming an expert, because I don't anticipate that I'll build any more Flutter apps - just this one. The goal here is not the journey, it's just the end product. Is this possible to pull off in Flutterflow, or foolhardy? October 15, 2021 at 12:23AM by FlexNastyBIG https://ift.tt/3ve5BXM
