🚨 BIG SEBI UPDATE – Relief for Options Traders!
🟢 Expiry Settlement: SEBI restores the last 30-minute VWAP (3:00–3:30 PM) for stock & index derivatives, replacing CAS-based settlement.
🟢 Effective Date: 7 December 2026.
🟢 CAS Continues: 3:30–3:40 PM for cash-market closing prices.
🟢 Index Options: Trading ends at 3:30 PM on expiry days.
🟢 Stock Derivatives: Trading continues until 3:45 PM, including expiry days.
🟢 Post-Close Session: 3:50–4:00 PM for cash equities.
✅ Positive Development: Expected to reduce CAS-related settlement volatility and improve predictability for options traders.
SEBI changes CAS timings
Expiring index options will now close at 3:30pm, while CAS will run from 3:30 to 3:40pm.
Expiry day options and the closing auction will no longer overlap.
