There are two types of nozzles in condensers: Self venting and flooded. In order to have a one phase flow at outlet nozzle, outlet steam velocity should be limitted such that FROUDE NUMBER drops below 0.3 (or 0.31 based on Perry's handbook) . Then, vapor bubbles move back toward the exchanger/ vessel.
Self venting nozzle/ flow is necessary in pump suction sizing, control valve sizing, heat exchanger nozzle sizing and every where we need one phase flow gravity flow.
Watch bellow video from HTRI to learn self venting concept and see how you have to adjust nozzle size to have a self venting gravity flow. Pay attention to important notes in the video about pressure drop in self venting nozzles and number of nozzles in the exchangers.
