Also you may be curious why do people always ask to wishlist — just post a game on Steam and it will find you the audience. Right? Wrong: Steam will not spend anything on your indie game by default and has no paid marketing either. There are a few exceptions: - Your game will be shown before the release and during the release window to find out if people are getting curious. - Your game will be shown during the first two days of the Next Fest. It's 100% random and by days 3-4 it will start giving the priorities to games that clicked. Every other time your tiny indie game has basically zero support. It's shown here and there but at scale that gives it 1-2 wishlists a day. Imagine that you need at least 10 000 to release the game, but often 20-50K for a commercial success. At native 2/day it will take eternity.
