Joy Ezeugwu, a nursing trainee at Ezzy International College of Nursing Sciences in Enugu, has reportedly been arrested. She gained public attention after sharing a viral video exposing the poor conditions at Uwani Health Centre (also referred to as Uwani General Hospital) in Enugu, including shortages of basic amenities like electricity, water, and oxygen during night shifts.
According to multiple reports, she was detained this morning by officers from the Police Force Headquarters Annex in Enugu. The arrest is allegedly linked to directives from her former school's administrator, Ifeyinwa Peace Okwudu.
Ezeugwu had earlier been placed on indefinite suspension by the college, along with another trainee, for highlighting the facility's challenges. The developments have sparked concerns about student rights, freedom of expression, and accountability in the health sector.
Police have not yet issued an official confirmation on her current status.
