✅Rickettsiae — General features✅ 🔢- Small size 🔢- Obligate intracellular → multiply in cytoplasm or nucleus 🔢- Grow on yolk sac of chick embryo 🔢- Tissue culture _>Have both DNA, RNA 🔢- Multiply by binary fission 🔢- Have typical Gram-negative cell wall 🔢- Have ribosomes 🔢- Have metabolically active enzyme 🔢- Have sensitivity to antibiotics 🔢🔢- Transmitted by arthropods { Ticks, Lice, Mites, Fleas } ( Bite or feces) 🔢🔢- Maintained in arthropod reservoirs 🔢🔢- Vasculitis disease: Embryo → Bacteremia Attacks the endothelial cells Vasculitis → rash, edema and hemorrhage.
