Assertion (A): 131 CAB was defeated in Lok Sabha as the government failed to secure the required special majority.
Reason (R): Delimitation of parliamentary constituencies requires CAA and can only be carried out with a special majority
I was so confused - 106 CAA to pass ho chuka tha. These were voting on 131 CAB. Asked AI :
Without today's bill: Wait for 2027 census → delimitation → women's reservation maybe by 2034-35
With today's bill: Use 2011 census → do delimitation now → women's reservation possibly by 2029
The government framed it as "we're trying to implement women's reservation faster." The opposition said "you're using that as cover to redraw India's electoral map in your favour right now."

The Women's Reservation Bill failed to pass in the Lok Sabha, falling short of the required two-thirds majority.
Maybe nari shakti vandan was just an excuse to get delimitation passed - why 2023 Act deliberately tied women's reservation to delimitation, when it didn't need to — reservation could have been implemented using existing seat numbers.
Now they will just blame opposition rather than discuss meaningful delimitation. A failed political strategy to reshape India's electoral map in favour of the ruling party's stronghold regions
