IS-KP Activities Reported in Several Areas of South Waziristan; Residents Report Checkings, Warnings Against Girls' Education, and Disruption of Wedding Event The Islamic State Khorasan Province (IS-KP) has reportedly made its presence visible in several parts of South Waziristan, including Kaloti, Shogi, Bagh Pul, Shin Warsak, and other nearby areas, according to local residents. Local residents say that masked armed men identify themselves as IS-KP militants occasionally carry out checking on roads away from urban centres. They reportedly warn people to keep themselves away from the government and local peace committees. Residents also say that the militants use a harsh tone while speaking to people and that some of them appear to speak with an Afridi or Peshawar accent. Information received from some areas suggests that the militants have also started warning local residents about girls' education, telling people that girls should not attend schools. Three days ago, a musical programme was organised during a wedding ceremony at the house of Babu Jan near Kuzha Panga. According to local residents, IS-KP militants arrived at the gathering, destroyed the musical equipment, and ordered people to return to their homes. They also warned residents not to organise musical programmes in the future, saying they could face problems if they did so. In recent days, IS-KP has claimed responsibility for the killing of two people in Shin Warsak. The group had also previously claimed attacks in Wana.
