➥ Get a VPS
You need a small Linux VPS with a public IPv4 address.
For example:
• Ubuntu 22.04/24.04
• 1 GB RAM is generally enough for a small setup
• Public IPv4
• Root/administrator access
𝙽𝙾𝚃𝙴:- Don't use your personal PC unless you know how to expose it safely to the internet.
➥ Connect to the VPS
From your computer, you can use SSH:
ssh root@YOUR_SERVER_IP
Replace YOUR_SERVER_IP with the VPS's actual IP.
➥ Download the official WhatsApp Proxy
Use Meta's official repository:
WhatsApp Proxy — official GitHub repository
On the VPS:
• git clone https://github.com/WhatsApp/proxy.git
• cd proxy
➥ Install/run the proxy
The repository contains the current Docker/configuration instructions. Follow those instructions to build and start the proxy.
The important part is that your server needs to expose the proxy's required port to the internet.
For example, your final endpoint will look
conceptually like:
YOUR_SERVER_IP:PORT
➥ Open the required firewall port
If you're using UFW, for example:
ufw allow 80/tcp
ufw allow 443/tcp
Only open the ports actually required by the configuration you're using.
Also check your VPS provider's firewall/security-group settings—opening UFW alone isn't always enough.
➥ Test that the proxy is running
Check the Docker/container status and logs according to the repository's instructions.
You want the proxy service to be running without errors before trying it on your phone.
➥ Add it to WhatsApp
On your Android WhatsApp:
WhatsApp → Settings → Storage and data → Proxy → Use proxy
Enter your proxy address.
For example:
123.123.123.123:443
Then save it.
