Repost from Studying In Yemen
By Allāh! Not Many Are Able To Be Patient Upon This!
An audio of Dr. Faysal حفظه الله encouraging students and motivating them to be firm on seeking knowledge.
He, within it, says حفظه الله:
"... And I tell you, by Allāh! Not many are able to be patient upon this.
Those that are patient upon this are the utmost of men. By Allāh, I say they are the utmost of men.
By Allāh, a man is not able to sit, learn and be patient...
Patient upon poverty, patient upon sickness, patient upon harms, patient upon hardships.
By Allāh, one is not able to handle this except the utmost of men.
Those, who when the trials and tribulations come, they respond to it! And they put their trust in Allāh."

Reciting Qur’ān For The Deceased
Our Shaykh, Abū Abdillāh Muhammad bā Jamāl (may Allāh preserve him) was asked:
📥 Question:
The questioner asks: If I recite the Qur’ān for the deceased, intending that I am reciting it on his behalf, will it reach him while he is in his grave? What advice do you have for someone who does this? And is there any Hadith affirming this?
📤 Answer:
No. Do not recite intending that the reward be for him, nor recite with the intention that you are reciting on his behalf. There is no evidence for either of these.
However, if you recite the Qur’ān and then, after reciting the Qur’ān, you supplicate to Allāh (the Mighty and Majestic), using your recitation as a means that He forgive your father, your mother, or so-and-so, then there is no harm in this. This is a matter of tawassul (seeking nearness to Allāh through His legislated means): you use your recitation as a means (of your supplication being accepted); not intending for him to receive the reward of your recitation, nor that you recite the Qur’ān on his behalf.

Lines of Poetry on Seeking Knowledge, Attributed to Imām al-Shāfiʿī رحمه الله
ومن لم يذق مر التعلم ساعــة ...تجرع ذل الجهل طول حياته
ومن فاته التعليم وقت شبابــه ...فكبر عليه أربعا لوفاتــه
Whoever does not taste the bitterness of learning for an hour,
will drink the humiliation of ignorance throughout his life.
And whoever misses out on learning during his youth,
then pronounce four takbīrs over him for his death.

Riba became banking.
Music became entertainment.
Free mixing became normality.
Then, calling people back to the Qur’an and Sunnah was called
“a new religion.”
When Muslims forgot their religion, they thought that the Salafis had brought a new religion!
To add to the statement above, Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله has a beautiful statement regarding the importance of adhering to the evidence:
من فارق الدليل ضل السبيل، ولا دليل إلا ما جاء به الرسول ﷺ“Whoever abandons the evidence has strayed from the path, and there is no evidence except that which was brought by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.” [Miftāh Dār as-saʿādah (85)]

DO NOT SCARE ME WITH THE FATWĀ OF SO-AND-SO!!
Imām Muqbil—may Allāh have mercy on him—said:

And the fatwā of the least of you, if he has evidence, is upon my eyes and my head—so that you do not frighten me with the fatwā of so-and-so or so-and-so.” [Ghāratul-Ashriṭah, 1/43] ——— Translated by: ʿAbdul-Laṭīf ibn Ḥuṣṣein https://t.me/Muqbil_Eng https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029VaHVDfO2kNFjO6CnyX3r
Benefits from ‘The ʿAqīdah of Sufyān ath-Thawrī’ [#2]
Jābir ibn ʿAbdillāh (may Allāh be pleased with him and his father) said that he heard the Prophet ﷺ say:
“If a man enters his home and remembers Allāh while entering and when eating, Shayṭān says: ‘There is no place for you to stay here, nor is there any evening meal for you.’ However, if a man enters his home without remembering Allāh while entering, Shayṭān says: ‘You have found a place to stay.’ And if he does not mention Allāh when eating, he says: ‘You have found a place to stay and an evening meal.’ [Sahīh Muslim]
Shaykh Yahya al-Hajūri حفظه الله writes:Meaning, he and those with him have found a place to stay. He does not enter the home alone; rather, he enters along with many other corrupters (i.e. other Shayāṭīn). From the blessings of this tasmiyah (saying Bismillāh) is that it prevents this evil one, we seek refuge in Allāh from him, from entering the homes. These Shayāṭīn are other than the Shayāṭīn that are assigned to every individual (i.e. the qarīn). They include the Shayāṭīn who cause corruption between a man and his wife, between a child and his parent, and within the homes, as well as the Shayāṭīn that cause harm. So, when this remembrance and mention of Allāh takes place, Allāh bestows His kindness upon you, and you find blessing in your home and well-being. For how many harms do you see occurring in homes because of the lack of remembrance of Allah when entering, and likewise when leaving the home?” [The Aqeedah of Sufyān ath-Thawrī (pp. 61-62)] ——— Translated by: Rashīd al-Canadī Official English Telegram Channel: https://t.me/ShaykhYahyaEn Official English WhatsApp Channel: https://whatsapp.com/channel/0029Vb8CZqu2ZjClJlVFXj0b Official Arabic Source [PDF]: https://sh-yahia.net/show_books_67.html

The Believer Is the Mirror
Of His Brother
✍️ Ash-Shaykh Abee
Mundhir 'Ammar
Al-Hawbanee ((حفظه الله))
Part of sincere brotherhood is that you be a mirror for your brother: you may see in him what he does not see in himself.
So you gently draw his attention to it when he makes a mistake, encourage him when he does well, guide him aright when he slips, and do not leave him to continue in his error while you are able to advise him.
It is mentioned in the Hadīth:⤵️
“The believer is the mirror of the believer.”
A mirror does not expose you in front of the people; rather, it shows you what needs to be corrected. Likewise, a sincere brother conceals your faults, advises you, is sincere toward you, and does not flatter you at the expense of your religion and your best interests.
So do not become angry with someone who sincerely points out your faults to you, and do not make sincere advice a cause of estrangement. Rather, be grateful to the one who intends good for you.
How greatly we are in need of a sincere, advising brother: when we become heedless, he reminds us; when we make a mistake, he corrects us; and when we do well, he helps us remain steadfast.

A heartfelt poem reminiscing about the days of Dammāj, Yemen.

شرح عقيدة سفيان الثوري
The ʿAqeedah of Sufyān al-Thawrī is a concise treatise outlining some of the fundamental beliefs of Ahlus-Sunnah Wal-Jamāʿah. The great Imām of the Salaf, Abū ʿAbdillāh Sufyān al-Thawrī (رحمه الله) (d. 161 AH), was asked by his student, Shuʿayb ibn Ḥarb (رحمه الله), to provide a brief advice from the Sunnah that he could hold onto until he stands before Allāh سبحانه وتعالى. Throughout the text, Sufyān addresses Shuʿayb directly, saying يَا شُعَيْبُ (“O Shuʿayb”) as he takes him through these essential principles.
Among the main topics discussed are the belief that the Qurʾān is the uncreated speech of Allāh, the status and precedence of the Sahābah, Imān and what it consists of, the belief in Qadar, and other fundamental principles of Ahlus-Sunnah. This treatise can also be found in the book Sharh Usūl I'tiqād Ahlus-Sunnah wal-Jamāʿah by Imām al-Lālikā’ī (d. 418 AH)
Our Shaykh, Yahyā ibn ʿAlī al-Hajūri (حفظه الله), wrote a commentary on this text, further clarifying and elaborating on these principles.
It was also mentioned that:
“The Shaykh decided to comment on this treatise when he was visited by a number of guests. He said:
كَانَ مِنَ الْمُنَاسِبِ أَنْ يُكْرَمُوا بِالْعِلْمِ
‘It was fitting that they be honored with knowledge.’
So he began going through this short treatise with them.” [1]

A Fragrance of Ambergis on The Tale of the Four Maḥāmid
Written by Abu Atiyyah Mahmud hafidhahullah
____
During our visit to Masjid Muqbil with Shaykh Daghash al-ʿAjmī [14 Rabi' Al-Awwal 1448 AH (Thursday, August 27, 2026)], we had the opportunity to sit with the noble brothers Abū ʿAṭiyyah, Abū Isḥāq Saʿd, Abū Ḥudhayfah Sāmī, and others. During this sitting, Shaykh Daghash mentioned a remarkable historical event.
This research by our teacher, Abū ʿAṭiyyah, came about as a result of that sitting.
--------------------------
Who Were the Four Maḥāmid?
They were called the Four Maḥāmid because each of their names began with “Muḥammad”:
1. Imām Muḥammad ibn Jarīr at-Ṭabarī — the leading scholar of Qur’anic tafsīr and history.
2. Imām Muḥammad ibn Isḥāq ibn Khuzaymah — known as “the Imām of the Imāms.”
3. Imām Muḥammad ibn Naṣr al-Marwazī.
4. Imām Muḥammad ibn Hārūn ar-Rūyānī.
The Story
Around the year 256 AH, these four great scholars met in Egypt while seeking knowledge. Eventually, they ran out of money and food, and their hunger became so severe that they had nothing left with which to sustain themselves.
The four scholars agreed to draw lots. Whoever was chosen would go out and ask people for food for his companions.
The lot fell upon Imām Ibn Khuzaymah. He said to his companions:
«“Give me some time so that I can pray the prayer of seeking guidance” — or, according to another wording, “two rakʿahs.”»
He then began praying and humbly supplicating to Allah.
While Ibn Khuzaymah was praying, there was suddenly a knock at the door. They opened it and found a eunuch, one of the servants of the governor of Egypt, Aḥmad ibn Ṭūlūn, who had come with candles and a servant carrying money.
The messenger asked about each of the scholars by name and gave each of them a purse containing fifty gold dinars.
He then told them that the governor of Egypt had seen a dream during his afternoon nap. In the dream, someone called out to him:
«“The Maḥāmid are hungry! The four Maḥāmid in your land are hungry while you are sleeping!”»
The governor awoke frightened and immediately ordered that the scholars be found, helped, and honoured.

Prayer Before Proposal
Shaykh al-Islām Ibn Taymiyyah رحمه الله said:“If people disapprove of a man marrying a woman who is a thief, an adulteress, or one who drinks alcohol, then their disapproval of marrying a woman who does not pray should be far greater, by agreement of the imams. For indeed, the woman who does not pray is worse than the adulteress, the thief, and the one who drinks alcohol.” [Jāmiʿ al-Masā’il, 4/142] ——— Translator’s Note: Although this passage specifically mentions a woman, Ibn Taymiyyah clarifies earlier in the chapter that the ruling is the same, سواء كان رجلاً أو امرأةً, whether man or woman.
