SUPPLICATION 17
Arabic: وعن معاذ رضي الله عنه - عن النبي قال: «اللهم إني أسألك الطيبات، وفعل الخيرات، وترك المنكرات وحب المساكين، وأن تتوب علي وتغفر لي وترحمني، وإذا أردت في خلقك فتنة فنجني إليك منها غير مفتون، اللهم وأسألك حبك وحب من يحبك وحب عمل يبلغني إلى حبك».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'alukat-tayyibat, wa fi'lal-khayrat, wa tarkal-munkarat wa hubbal-masakin, wa an tatuba 'alayya wa taghfira li wa tarhamani. Wa idha aradta fi khalqika fitnatan fa-najjini ilayka minha ghayra maftun. Allahumma wa as'aluka hubbaka, wa hubba man yuhibbuka, wa hubba 'amalin yuballighuni ila hubbik.
Translation: Narrated by Mu'adh (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ said: "O Allah, I ask You for all that is good, to do good deeds, to abandon evil deeds, and to love the poor. I ask You to accept my repentance, forgive me, and have mercy on me. If You intend a trial for Your creation, then save me [by taking me] to You without being subjected to the trial. O Allah, I ask You for Your love, the love of those who love You, and the love of a deed that brings me to Your love."
SUPPLICATION 18
Arabic: وعن ابن عباس - رضي الله عنه - قال: كان النبي يدعو: «اللهم قنعني بما رزقتني، وبارك لي فيه، واخلف على كل غائبة لي بخير».
Transliteration: Allahumma qanni'ni bima razaqtani, wa barik li fih, wakh-luf 'ala kulli gha'ibatin li bi-khayr.
Translation: Narrated by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ used to supplicate: "O Allah, make me content with what You have provided me, bless it for me, and replace every absent thing of mine with something better."
SUPPLICATION 19
Arabic: وعن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله كان يقول: «اللهم انفعني بما علمتني وعلمني ما ينفعني، وارزقني علمًا تنفعني به».
Transliteration: Allahumman-fa'ni bima 'allamtani, wa 'allimni ma yanfa'uni, war-zuqni 'ilman tanfa'uni bih.
Translation: Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say: "O Allah, benefit me with what You have taught me, teach me what will benefit me, and provide me with knowledge that You will benefit me with."
SUPPLICATION 20
Arabic: وعن عائشة - رضي الله عنها - أن رسول الله أمرها أن تدعو بهذا الدعاء: «اللهم إني أسألك من الخير كله عاجله وآجله، ما علمت منه وما لم أعلم، وأعوذ بك من الشر كله عاجله وآجله، ما علمت منه وما لم أعلم، وأسألك الجنة وما قرب إليها من قول أو عمل، وأعوذ بك من النار وما قرب إليها من قول أو عمل، وأسألك من خير ما سألك عبدك ورسولك محمد ، وأعوذ بك من شر ما استعاذ بك منه عبدك ورسولك محمد ، وأسألك ما قضيت لي من أمر أن تجعل عاقبته رشدا».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'aluka minal-khayri kullih, 'ajilihi wa aajilih, ma 'alimtu minhu wa ma lam a'lam. Wa a'udhu bika minash-sharri kullih, 'ajilihi wa aajilih, ma 'alimtu minhu wa ma lam a'lam. Wa as'alukal-jannata wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal, wa a'udhu bika minan-nari wa ma qarraba ilayha min qawlin aw 'amal. Wa as'aluka min khayri ma sa'alaka 'abduka wa rasuluka Muhammad, wa a'udhu bika min sharri mas-ta'adha bika minhu 'abduka wa rasuluka Muhammad. Wa as'aluka ma qadayta li min amrin an taj'ala 'aqibatahu rushda.
Translation: Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded her to supplicate with this du'a: "O Allah, I ask You for all good, both present and future, what I know of it and what I do not know. And I seek refuge in You from all evil, both present and future, what I know of it and what I do not know. I ask You for Paradise and whatever words or deeds bring one closer to it. And I seek refuge in You from the Fire and whatever words or deeds bring one closer to it.
O Allah, I ask You to raise my remembrance, remove my burden, rectify my affairs, purify my heart, protect my chastity, illuminate my heart, forgive my sin, and I ask You for the highest levels of Paradise, Amin. O Allah, I ask You to bless me in myself, in my hearing, in my sight, in my soul, in my character and family, in my life and in my death, and in my deeds. Accept my good deeds, and I ask You for the highest levels of Paradise, Amin.'"
SUPPLICATION 15
Arabic: وعن عائشة - رضي الله عنها - قالت: دخل علي أبو بكر فقال: هل سمعت من رسول الله دعاء علمنيه ؟ قلت: ما هو؟ قال: كان عيسى بن مريم يعلمه أصحابه، قال: "لو كان على أحدكم جبل ذهب دينا فدعا الله بذلك لقضاه الله عنه": «اللهم فارج الهم، كاشف الغم، مجيب دعوة المضطرين، رحمن الدنيا والآخرة ورحيمهما، أنت ترحمني فارحمني رحمة تغنيني بها عن رحمة من سواك».
Transliteration: Allahumma farijal-hamm, kashifal-ghamm, mujiba da'watil-mudtarrin, rahmanad-dunya wal-akhirati wa rahimahuma, anta tarhamuni farhamni rahmatan tughnini biha 'an rahmati man siwak.
Translation: Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): Abu Bakr entered upon me and said: "Did you hear a supplication from the Messenger of Allah that he taught me?" I said: "What is it?" He said: "Isa bin Maryam used to teach it to his companions. He said, 'Even if one of you had a mountain of gold in debt and supplicated to Allah with this, Allah would pay it off for him': 'O Allah, Reliever of worry, Remover of grief, Answerer of the call of the distressed, the Most Merciful of this world and the Hereafter and the Compassionate of them both, You show mercy to me, so grant me a mercy that makes me independent of the mercy of anyone else besides You.'"
SUPPLICATION 16
Arabic: وعن أم سلمة - رضي الله عنها - عن النبي قال: هذا ما سأل محمد ربه «اللهم إني أسألك خير المسألة، وخير الدعاء، وخير النجاح، وخير العمل، وخير الثواب، وخير الحياة، وخير الممات، وثبتني وثقل موازيني، وحقق إيماني، وارفع درجتي، وتقبل صلاتي، واغفر خطيئتي، وأسألك الدرجات العلى من الجنة آمين. اللهم إني أسألك فواتح الخير وخواتمه وجوامعه، وأوله وآخره، وظاهره وباطنه، والدرجات العلى من الجنة آمين. اللهم إني أسألك خير ما آتي، وخير ما أفعل، وخير ما بطن وخير ما ظهر، والدرجات العلى من الجنة آمين. اللهم إني أسألك أن ترفع ذكري، وتضع وزري، وتصلح أمري، وتطهر قلبي، وتحصن فرجي، وتنور لي قلبي، وتغفر لي ذنبي، وأسألك الدرجات العلى من الجنة آمين. اللهم إني أسألك أن تبارك لي في نفسي، وفي سمعي، وفي بصري، وفي روحي، وفي خلقي وأهلي، وفي محياي وفي مماتي، وفي عملي، وتقبل حسناتي، وأسألك الدرجات العلى من الجنة آمين.
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'aluka khayral-mas'alah, wa khayrad-du'a, wa khayran-najah, wa khayral-'amal, wa khayrath-thawab, wa khayral-hayah, wa khayral-mamat. Wa thabbitni, wa thaqqil mawazini, wa haqqiq imani, war-fa' darajati, wa taqabbal salati, wagh-fir khati'ati, wa as'alukad-darajatil-'ula minal-jannah, amin. Allahumma inni as'aluka fawatihal-khayri wa khawatimahu wa jawami'ahu, wa awwalahu wa akhirahu, wa zahirahu wa batinahu, wad-darajatil-'ula minal-jannah, amin. Allahumma inni as'aluka khayra ma aati, wa khayra ma af'al, wa khayra ma batana wa khayra ma zahar, wad-darajatil-'ula minal-jannah, amin. Allahumma inni as'aluka an tarfa'a dhikri, wa tada'a wizri, wa tusliha amri, wa tutahhira qalbi, wa tuhassina farji, wa tunawwira li qalbi, wa taghfira li dhanbi, wa as'alukad-darajatil-'ula minal-jannah, amin. Allahumma inni as'aluka an tubarika li fi nafsi, wa fi sam'i, wa fi basari, wa fi ruhi, wa fi khalqi wa ahli, wa fi mahyaya wa fi mamati, wa fi 'amali, wa taqabbal hasanati, wa as'alukad-darajatil-'ula minal-jannah, amin.
Translation: Narrated by Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her): The Prophet ﷺ said: "This is what Muhammad asked of his Lord: 'O Allah, I ask You for the best request, the best supplication, the best success, the best deed, the best reward, the best life, and the best death. Make me firm, make my scales heavy, actualize my faith, raise my rank, accept my prayer, forgive my sin, and I ask You for the highest levels of Paradise, Amin. O Allah, I ask You for the beginnings of good, its endings, its comprehensive elements, its first and its last, its apparent and its hidden, and the highest levels of Paradise, Amin. O Allah, I ask You for the best of what I bring, the best of what I do, the best of what is hidden, and the best of what is apparent, and the highest levels of Paradise, Amin.
SUPPLICATION 11
Arabic: عن أبي هريرة - رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله ﷺ قال: «أتحبون أيها الناس أن تجتهدوا في الدعاء؟» قالوا: نعم يا رسول الله. قال: «قولوا: اللهم أعنا على ذكرك وشكرك وحسن عبادتك». وجاء عنه أنه أوصى معاذًا أن يقولها دبر كل صلاة.
Transliteration: Allahumma a'inna 'ala dhikrika wa shukrika wa husni 'ibadatik.
Translation: Narrated by Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O people, do you love to strive in supplication?" They said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." He said: "Say: 'O Allah, help us to remember You, to thank You, and to worship You beautifully.'" And it is reported that he advised Mu'adh to say it after every prayer.
SUPPLICATION 12
Arabic: عن أنس -رضي الله عنه أن النبي سمع رجلاً يقول: "اللهم إني أسألك بأن لك الحمد لا إله إلا أنت بديع السماوات والأرض ياذا الجلال والإكرام يا حي يا قيوم". فقال النبي : «لقد سألت الله باسم الله الأعظم الذي إذا دعي به أجاب، وإذا سئل به أعطى».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'aluka bi-anna lakal-hamd, la ilaha illa anta, badi'us-samawati wal-ard, Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram, Ya Hayyu Ya Qayyum.
Translation: Narrated by Anas (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ heard a man saying: "O Allah, I ask You by virtue of all praise belonging to You; there is no deity worthy of worship but You, the Originator of the heavens and the earth, O Possessor of Majesty and Honor, O Ever-Living, O Sustainer of all existence." The Prophet ﷺ then said: "You have asked Allah by His Greatest Name; if He is called upon by it, He answers, and if He is asked by it, He gives."
SUPPLICATION 13
Arabic: عن شداد بن أوس - رضي الله عنه - قال: قال لي رسول الله ﷺ : «يا شداد، إذا رأيت الناس يكنزون الذهب والفضة فاكنز هؤلاء الكلمات: اللهم اللهم إني أسألك الثبات في الأمر، والعزيمة على الرشد، وأسألك شكر نعمتك وحسن عبادتك، وأسألك قلبا سليمًا، ولسانا صادقًا، وأسألك من خير ما تعلم، وأعوذ بك من شر ما تعلم، واستغفرك لما تعلم، إنك أنت علام الغيوب».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni as'alukath-thabata fil-amr, wal-'azimata 'alar-rushd, wa as'aluka shukra ni'matik, wa husna 'ibadatik, wa as'aluka qalban saliman, wa lisanan sadiqan, wa as'aluka min khayri ma ta'lam, wa a'udhu bika min sharri ma ta'lam, was-taghfiruka lima ta'lam, innaka anta 'allamul-ghuyub.
Translation: Narrated by Shaddad bin Aws (may Allah be pleased with him): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to me: "O Shaddad, if you see people hoarding gold and silver, then hoard these words: 'O Allah, I ask You for firmness in the matter (of religion) and resolve upon guidance. I ask You to make me thankful for Your blessings and to worship You beautifully. I ask You for a sound heart and a truthful tongue. I ask You for the good of what You know, I seek refuge in You from the evil of what You know, and I seek Your forgiveness for what You know. Indeed, You are the Knower of the unseen.'"
SUPPLICATION 14
Arabic: عن حصين بن المنذر الخزاعي - رضي الله عنه- أن النبي ﷺ قال له: قل اللهم ألهمني رشدي، وقني شرَّ نفسي» وقال له قل: «اللهم قني شر نفسي، واعزم لي على أرشد أمري، اللهم اغفر لي ما أسررت وما أعلنت، وما أخطأت وما تعمدت، ما علمت وما دهلت».
Transliteration: Allahumma alhimni rushdi, wa qini sharra nafsi. Allahumma qini sharra nafsi, wa'zim li 'ala arshadi amri. Allahummagh-fir li ma asrartu wa ma a'lantu, wa ma akhta'tu wa ma ta'ammadtu, ma 'alimtu wa ma jahiltu.
Translation: Narrated by Husayn bin Al-Mundhir Al-Khuza'i (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ told him to say: "O Allah, inspire me with my guidance and protect me from the evil of my own soul." And he told him to say: "O Allah, protect me from the evil of my own soul, and grant me resolve upon the most rightly-guided of my affairs. O Allah, forgive me for what I have hidden and what I have made public, what I have done by mistake and what I have done intentionally, what I know and what I am ignorant of."
Transliteration: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min 'adhabil-qabr, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-masihid-dajjal, wa a'udhu bika min fitnatil-mahya wa fitnatil-mamat. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-ma'thami wal-maghram.
Translation: Narrated by the Mother of the Believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to supplicate in his prayer: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the torment of the grave, I seek refuge in You from the trial of the False Messiah (Dajjal), and I seek refuge in You from the trials of life and death. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from sin and debt."
SUPPLICATION 5
Arabic: عن ابن عمر - رضي الله عنهما - قال: كان من دعاء النبي : «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من زَوَالِ نِعْمَتِكَ، وتَحَوُّلِ عَافِيَتِكَ، ومن فُجَاءَةِ نِقْمَتِكَ، ومن جميعِ سَخَطِكَ».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min zawali ni'matik, wa tahawwuli 'afiyatik, wa fuja'ati niqmatik, wa jami'i sakhatik.
Translation: Narrated by Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both): Among the supplications of the Prophet ﷺ was: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from the withdrawal of Your blessing, the loss of the well-being You granted, the suddenness of Your punishment, and all of Your anger."
SUPPLICATION 6
Arabic: عن أم المؤمنين عائشة - رضي الله عنها - قالت:" قلت : يا رسول الله، إن وافقت ليلة القدر ما أسأل؟ قال: «قولي: اللهم إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي»".
Transliteration: Allahumma innaka 'afuwwun tuhibbul-'afwa fa'fu 'anni.
Translation: Narrated by Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): I said, "O Messenger of Allah, if I know which night is Laylat al-Qadr, what should I ask?" He said, "Say: 'O Allah, You are Pardoning and You love to pardon, so pardon me.'"
SUPPLICATION 7
Arabic: عن أبي بكر الصديق - رضي الله عنه - أنه سمع النبي يقول: «سلوا المعافاة فإنَّهُ لم يُؤْتَ أحد بعد اليقين خيرًا من المعافاة».
Translation: Narrated by Abu Bakr As-Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him): He heard the Prophet ﷺ say: "Ask Allah for well-being (mu'afah), for no one has been given anything better after certainty (faith) than well-being."
SUPPLICATION 8
Arabic: عن أبي مالك الأشجعي عن أبيه - رضي الله عنهما- قال: كان رسول الله يُعلَّمُ مَن أَسْلَمَ أن يقول: «اللهم اهدني، وارزقني، وعافني، وارحمني».
Transliteration: Allahummah-dini, war-zuqni, wa 'afini, war-hamni.
Translation: Narrated by Abu Malik Al-Ashja'i from his father (may Allah be pleased with them both): The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to teach whoever embraced Islam to say: "O Allah, guide me, provide for me, grant me well-being, and have mercy on me."
SUPPLICATION 9
Arabic: عن بسر بن أرطاة - رضي الله عنه - قال: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: «اللهم أحسن عاقبتنا في الأمور كلها، وأجَّرْنَا مِن خِزي الدنيا وعذاب الآخرة».
Transliteration: Allahumma ahsin 'aqibatana fil-umuri kulliha, wa ajirna min khizyid-dunya wa 'adhabil-akhirah.
Translation: Narrated by Busr bin Artah (may Allah be pleased with him): I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "O Allah, grant us a good outcome in all affairs, and protect us from the disgrace of this world and the torment of the Hereafter."
SUPPLICATION 10
Arabic: عن ربيعة بن عامر رضي الله عنه - عن النبي ﷺ قال: «ألظوا بياذا الجلال والإكرام». أي: الزموها وداوموا عليها.
Transliteration: Alizzu bi-Ya Dhal-Jalali wal-Ikram.
Translation: Narrated by Rabi'ah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ said: "Hold firmly to [and frequently say] 'O Possessor of Majesty and Honor'." (Meaning: stick to it and persist in it)
فصل في جوامع أدعية النبي ﷺ وتعوذاته التي لا غنى للمرء عنها مختصر من كتاب الوابل الصيب لابن القيم - رحمه الله
A Chapter on the Comprehensive Supplications of the Prophet ﷺ and His Seeking of Refuge, which a person cannot do without. Abridged from the book 'Al-Wabil As-Sayyib' by Ibn Al-Qayyim - may Allah have mercy upon him.
It was narrated by the Mother of the Believers, Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her): "The Prophet ﷺ used to prefer comprehensive supplications and would leave other than that."
SUPPLICATION 1
Arabic: عن ابن عباس - رضي الله عنه - قال: كان من دعاء النبي : «رب أعني ولا تُعِن عليَّ، وانصرني ولا تنصر علي، وامكر لي ولا تمكر علي، وانصرني على من بغى علي، رب اجعلني لك شكارا، لك ذكارا، لك رهابا، لك مخبتا، إليك أواها منيبا، رب تقبل توبتي، واغسل حوبتي، وأجب دعوتي، وثبت حُجتي، واهد قلبي، وسدّد لساني، واسلك سخيمة قلبي».
Transliteration: Rabbi a'inni wa la tu'in 'alayya, wansurni wa la tansur 'alayya, wamkur li wa la tamkur 'alayya, wansurni 'ala man bagha 'alayya. Rabbij'alni laka shakkaran, laka dhakkaran, laka rahhaban, laka mukhbitan, ilayka awwahan muniban. Rabbi taqabbal tawbati, waghsil hawbati, wa ajib da'wati, wa thabbit hujjati, wahdi qalbi, wa saddid lisani, waslul sakhimata qalbi.
Translation: Narrated by Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him): Among the supplications of the Prophet ﷺ was: "My Lord, help me and do not help against me; grant me victory and do not grant victory over me; plan for me and do not plan against me; grant me victory over those who transgress against me. My Lord, make me abundantly thankful to You, abundantly mindful of You, full of fear of You, obedient to You, and humbly turning to You. My Lord, accept my repentance, wash away my sin, answer my supplication, make my proof firm, guide my heart, make my tongue truthful, and remove the malice of my heart."
SUPPLICATION 2
Arabic: عن أنس بن مالك رضي الله عنه - قال: كنت أخدم النبي ﷺ فكنت أسمعه يكثر أن يقول: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من الهم والحزن، والعجز والكسل، والبخل والجبن، وضلع الدين وغلبة الرجال».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-hammi wal-huzan, wal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-bukhli wal-jubn, wa dala'id-dayni wa ghalabatir-rijal.
Translation: Narrated by Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him): I used to serve the Prophet ﷺ, and I frequently heard him say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from worry and grief, from helplessness and laziness, from miserliness and cowardice, from being heavily in debt and from being overpowered by men."
SUPPLICATION 3
Arabic: عن زيد بن أرقم - رضي الله عنه - عن النبي أنه كان يقول: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من العجز والكسل، والجبن والبخل، والهرم وعذاب القبر، اللهم آت نفسي تقواها وزكها أنت خير من زكاها، إنك وليها ومولاها، اللهم إني أعوذ بك من قلب لا يخشع، ونفس لا تشبع، وعلم لا ينفع، ودعوة لا يستجاب لها».
Transliteration: Allahumma inni a'udhu bika minal-'ajzi wal-kasal, wal-jubni wal-bukhl, wal-harami wa 'adhabil-qabr. Allahumma aati nafsi taqwaha wa zakkaha anta khayru man zakkaha, innaka waliyyuha wa mawlaha. Allahumma inni a'udhu bika min qalbin la yakhsha', wa nafsin la tashba', wa 'ilmin la yanfa', wa da'watin la yustajabu laha.
Translation: Narrated by Zayd bin Arqam (may Allah be pleased with him): The Prophet ﷺ used to say: "O Allah, I seek refuge in You from helplessness, laziness, cowardice, miserliness, old age, and the torment of the grave. O Allah, grant my soul its piety and purify it, You are the best to purify it; You are its Guardian and Master. O Allah, I seek refuge in You from a heart that does not fear [You], a soul that is never satisfied, knowledge that does not benefit, and a supplication that is not answered."

Arabic: عن أم المؤمنين عائشة - رضي الله عنها - أن رسول الله ﷺ كان يدعو في صلاته: «اللهم إني أعوذ بك من عذاب القبر، وأعوذ بك من فتنة المسيح الدجال، وأعوذ بك من فتنة المحيا وفتنة الممات، اللهم إني أعوذ بك من المأثم والمَغْرَم».
