Therefore, the leather becomes more resistant to microbial degradation. In the Hide Powder Test (a quantitative test for tannins), what is the procedure and how are the results interpreted? Answer: A plant extract is mixed with hide powder (collagen powder). After one hour, if the weight of the collagen powder decreases, it confirms the presence of tannins. If the weight does not decrease, tannins are absent.

Q: What types of bonds are involved in the formation of tannin–protein complexes? A: Tannin–protein complexes are formed primarily through hydrogen bonding and Van der Waals forces.
