It is not surprising that lambs should bear a grudge against great birds of prey, but that is no reason for holding it against the great birds of prey that they carry off lambs. And when the lambs say among themselves: «These birds of prey are evil, and whoever is as little as possible a bird of prey, but rather its opposite, a lamb—should he not be good?»—there is nothing to criticize in this setting up of an ideal, though the birds of prey may regard it somewhat mockingly and say to themselves: «We have no grudge against these good lambs—we even love them: nothing is tastier than a tender lamb.»
