The top 30 includes projects for the fuel and energy sector, industry and related fields that have attracted interest from companies.
Among them are four projects from our teams:
▶️ NanoOil – a nanoemulsion that improves drilling fluid performance.
▶️ Vanadium flow battery energy storage system – for backup power and load management at energy facilities.
▶️ Basin Simulator – a platform for modelling sedimentary basins and predicting their oil and gas potential.
▶️ REGENT – a smart coating that monitors deformation in oil and gas pipelines and storage tanks.
The participants will now work with experts and industry partners to prepare their technologies for pilot testing.

| 9 |  📈 Beyond the Accelerator – The Next Step Towards Implementation
During the programme, teams will identify an industrial application scenario for their technology and develop a roadmap for its further development. Projects with confirmed industry partner interest and an agreed next step will continue in the Energotechnohub St. Petersburg Technology Transfer Programme.
Further support will help teams put their plans into practice. Depending on the technology, the pathway may include:
🔷 R&D and engineering development;
🔷 pilot testing and licensing;
🔷 grant and corporate funding, and university co-funding;
🔷 engagement with technology and manufacturing partners;
🔷 government support measures;
🔷 establishing a technology company.
Each team’s pathway depends on the technology, customer requirements and the resources needed. The visual outlines the possible development pathways.

| 10 |  😎 From Application to Demo Day
There are five days left to apply to the Energotechnohub St. Petersburg Science and Technology Accelerator. Here are the key stages to help you plan your participation.
▶️ Until September 25 – Applications
The team leader completes the registration form and presents a scientific or engineering technology at TRL 3–5.
▶️ September 22–25 – Technology Broker Assessment
Experts assess the technology’s novelty, maturity and potential for industrial application.
▶️ September 25 – October 11 – Industry Customer Interviews
Teams discuss potential applications for their solutions. Admission to the programme requires an application scenario with potential value for an industry customer.
▶️ October 12 – December 13 – Training and Individual Support
Together with technology brokers and industry representatives, participants clarify technology requirements, explore resources and funding, and develop a technology transfer roadmap.
▶️ November 23–30 – Demo Day Selection
The ten most promising projects are selected for the final presentations.
▶️ On one day between December 14 and 20 – Demo Day in Kronstadt
Finalists will present their technology transfer roadmaps to industry customers, development institutions, funds and grant programme representatives.
🎓 The winning project will receive a RUB 1.5 million grant.

The Energotechnohub St. Petersburg Science and Technology Accelerator is built around regular collaboration among three parties.
▶️ Research Team
Presents the technology, its current maturity level and potential applications. Together with the experts, the team refines the industrial application scenario and identifies the steps required for implementation.
▶️ Technology Broker
Acts as a link between researchers and industry. During individual weekly sessions, the broker helps develop a technology transfer roadmap and identify the partners, resources and potential funding sources required.
▶️ Industry Customer Representative
Meets with the team approximately once every two weeks. The representative helps clarify the technology requirements, assess the relevance of the selected application scenario and identify a potential next step for collaboration.
This approach enables teams to build a development pathway based on real industry needs and prepare their technology for R&D, further maturation, pilot testing, licensing or another form of technology transfer.

During individual weekly sessions, they will help teams:

🔷 Resilience and Protection of Industrial Facilities
Infrastructure monitoring, emerging threat prevention, counter-UAV technologies, fire-resistant materials and fire safety systems.
🔷 Development of the Arctic and Remote Assets
Technologies designed to reduce the cost of logistics, construction, energy supply and facility operation in hard-to-reach regions.
🔷 Production Intensification and Enhanced Oil Recovery
Physical, chemical, biological and combined methods of stimulating reservoirs and near-wellbore zones.
🔷 High-Margin Products from Hydrocarbon Feedstocks
New chemicals and materials, catalysts, reagents, specialty chemicals, computational methods and research automation.
🔷 Biotechnological Transformation of Oil and Gas Processes
Microbial and enzymatic technologies, biocatalysis, biosurfactants, waste processing and environmental remediation.
Together with technology brokers and prospective industry customers, the teams will identify an industrial application scenario for their technology, develop a technology transfer roadmap and prepare the next step towards implementation.

Registration is now open for the Science and Technology Accelerator – a new program designed to introduce science-intensive technological developments into the fuel and energy sector.

– are a postgraduate student, lecturer, university researcher, or member of a project team working on highly novel technologies applicable to the fuel and energy sector (TRL 3–5);
– want your laboratory-developed technology to be implemented in the real-world operations of industrial companies.
Participate to:
▶️ find a business customer from the fuel and energy sector interested in your development;
▶️ work with a technology broker to develop an individual roadmap for introducing your technology into industry, including piloting, R&D, licensing, acquisition of intellectual property, establishment of a university spin-off, and more;

| 16 |  +3🥟 We brought the energy to VK Fest!
Two days, hundreds of visitors, music, technology, and that unmistakable festival vibe – this summer, Energy Club once again joined VK Fest!
At the Skoltech venue, we decided not just to talk about technology and startups, but to give everyone a chance to literally get hands-on with them.
💡Using an interactive 3D model, we explored how a battery works: moving ions between the cathode and anode and demonstrating what actually happens inside an energy storage system.
💡 We also took on the “Road to a Million” – a mechanical maze where an idea makes its way toward becoming a startup. On the road to a RUB 1,000,000 grant, participants faced challenges straight from the real startup world: finding a co-founder, dealing with a cash-flow gap, pitching to investors, and more.
And, of course, we introduced visitors to Energy Club Skoltech – a community that works with industry partners to discover promising technology projects, help them grow, and bring them all the way to real-world pilots!

A satellite-based service for oil & gas exploration using spectral data analysis to identify promising areas and reduce exploration costs.

A new ultra-strong cement-based material for infrastructure, oil & gas, and industrial facilities operating under extreme loads, temperature changes, aggressive environments, and intensive wear.
▶️ HydrogenPower – Aysylu Askarova, Elena Mukhina and Aliya Mukhametdinova
A technology for increasing oil recovery from heavy oil, mature, and hard-to-recover reservoirs using in-situ combustion and hydrogen-donor generation directly in the reservoir. The approach improves oil mobility, enhances oil quality, and unlocks residual reserves that are uneconomic with conventional production methods.
▶️ Russian Burch – Karina Yakhina, Dima Shchigarev, Olga Lapina, Pavel Kuznetsov
