It visually suggests two characters equally caught in the relationship rather than simply one villain hunting someone. Why purple? The entire cover is dominated by purple which makes it feel much more seductive and sinister than a traditional black/red dark-romance cover Purple can suggest: luxury + power + mystery + corruption + desire And because it's paired with black, skulls, bones and snakes, it becomes much darker. The skulls aren't just there to make it look "dark romance." They reinforce the idea of death, danger and mortality surrounding the relationship Notice how they're placed around the flowers rather than replacing them.
