‘Pahlavi is a sadly deluded soul’ said John Bercow, former Speaker of the House of Commons, in an interview with the Washington Times on Saturday.
He said that Reza Pahlavi, the son of Iran’s last Shah, had “missed the boat” on stirring up support for protests in Iran which erupted in late December against the government.
Bercow added that by positioning himself as the main choice for the next leader he “doesn’t have a truly democratic mindset”.
