The Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces intercepted and destroyed a Houthi-launched drone south of Mecca at approximately 6:50 p.m. on Tuesday, before it entered the city’s prohibited airspace.
Saudi-led coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said it was the second attempted Houthi attack targeting Mecca, citing the ballistic missile launch on July 27, 2017, as the first.
Al-Maliki said the security of the Two Holy Mosques and pilgrims is a “red line,” adding that the coalition would take what he described as necessary and deterrent measures in response to Houthi attacks.

Around 420 km² of advances and grey-zones made since early-2025 have been cleared by Ukrainian forces, most of which was done in the last 4 months (some smaller clearing operations were ongoing before May).
And the Ukrainian advance continued eastward to the Zherebets River, which they have already reached at multiple points.

The Trump administration has approved the $2.8 billion sale of heavy bombs to Israel, one of the largest U.S. munitions packages for the country, NYT reports.
The deal includes 40,000 one-ton bombs, weapons whose use by Israel in Gaza and Lebanon has drawn international criticism over civilian casualties and their large blast radius.
The State Department has submitted the sale to Congress for review, although the administration could invoke emergency authorities to move ahead with the weapons transfer despite congressional objections.
