'We are aware Iran is making REAL attempts to put end to conflict' — Putin in meeting with Iran’s Prez Pezeshkian

| 2 | 🇮🇷 Iran refuses to back down on nuclear program issue – AEOI head
Iran has no intention to give up its right to uranium enrichment, Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) head Mohammad Eslami told media on October 8.
“How can we have the nuclear industry without having the starting point of the nuclear process?” Eslami inquired, as quoted by Tasnim News Agency.
He further elaborated that:
◾️ The nuclear industry is the “driving source of science and technology”
◾️ Other countries in the world, including the United States, actively pursue and even prioritize nuclear tech
◾️ Iran thus refuses to become a “left-behind nation” and maintains that it has the right “to progress and be present at the frontiers of knowledge”
Following the launch of the US-Israeli aggression against Iran in March 2026, Donald Trump repeatedly claimed that the US seeks to prevent Iran from obtaining nuclear weapons – echoing similar claims made by Benjamin Netanyahu – despite no tangible proof of such nuclear weapon program ever being presented.
The US thus essentially insists on Iran giving up its civilian nuclear program, threatening further strikes against Iranian nuclear sites if Tehran does not comply.
Eslami, however, dismissed these threats, noting that the US has been making them for years and even tried to act on them without success.

| 20 | 📊🇵🇰 Fuel crisis puts Pakistanis on electric wheels
Fuel prices in Pakistan have surged sharply amid the Middle East conflict, making electric transport increasingly attractive. The country already has a National Electric Vehicle Policy 2025–30 in place, and the crisis is accelerating its rollout: authorities now expect the 30% EV sales target by 2030 to be reached early, with payback periods for electric vehicles down to under two years.
The shift is both a societal need and state policy, says Adam Saud, professor at Bahria University in Islamabad. The biggest effect, he says, will be felt by youth and the working class: electric scooters and bikes are cheaper than cars and have already tripled sales in a year.
"Many people are supporting the introduction and expansion of electric vehicles in the market, there are some who are raising some questions about the EV vehicle's durability and reliability," the expert notes, also flagging battery disposal risks.
He says the electricity shortage issue will be resolved soon thanks to solar and new dams: solar already generates "some 20% to 25% of all electricity consumed in the country." However, he warns that higher electricity prices "will remain a challenge in the foreseeable future." Still, given the jump in fuel prices, EVs "will be one of the best options for Pakistani customers." The main barrier for EVs is their high upfront cost. Saud does not expect major subsidies for electric vehicles, but says the government should "at least, reduce the taxes on their purchase."
Electrification also brings macroeconomic benefits, says Ammar Habib Khan, professor of practice at the Institute of Business Administration Karachi: "As around one third of Pakistan's imports are essentially fuel imports." Lower fuel demand, he says, benefits both consumers and the government, which saves foreign exchange.
