"I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot; but I wish you were cold or hot! So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spit you out of My mouth."
~ Revelation 3:15-16 📖
"Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?"
~ Mark 8:18 📖
We cannot convince people on our own. In fact, this often backfires. But the Scriptures do teach us what we can do: pray.
Pray for those who are spiritually blind, that God may open their eyes. Pray for those who hear His Word but do not understand it, that He may open their ears. Pray for those who have become lukewarm, that they may repent. And pray for those who do not yet know Christ, that they may find the way to the cross.
For it is written:
"And Jesus, looking at them, said to them: 'With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.'”
~ Matthew 19:26 📖
And also:
"Confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed; the powerful prayer of a righteous person can accomplish much."
~ James 5:16 📖
🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🤩🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧
Brothers and sisters, let us therefore persevere in prayer. What seems impossible to people is possible with God.
Greetings, Richard

| 17 | A LITTLE WHILE
BEYOND the smiling and the weeping
I shall be soon:
Beyond the waking and the sleeping, Beyond the sowing and the reaping, I shall be soon.
Love, rest, and home!
Sweet hope!
Lord, tarry not, but come.
Beyond the blooming and the fading
I shall be soon :
Beyond the shining and the shading, Beyond the hoping and the dreading,
I shall be soon.
Love, rest, and home!
Sweet hope!
Lord, tarry not, but come.
Beyond the rising and the setting
I shall be soon ;
Beyond the calming and the fretting, Beyond remembering and forgetting,
I shall be soon.
Love, rest, and home!
Sweet hope!
Lord, tarry not, but come.
Beyond the gathering and the strewing
I shall be soon;
Beyond the ebbing and the flowing, Beyond the coming and the going,
I shall be soon.
Love, rest, and home!
Sweet hope!
Lord, tarry not, but come.
Beyond the parting and the meeting
I shall be soon;
Beyond the farewell and the greeting, Beyond this pulse's fever-beating,
I shall be soon.
Love, rest, and home!
Sweet hope!
Lord, tarry not, but come.
Beyond the frost-chain and the fever
I shall be soon;
Beyond the rock-waste and the river;
Beyond the ever and the never, I shall be soon.
Love, rest, and home!
Sweet hope!
Lord, tarry not, but come.

"Satan is a master theologian. He has spoken with God, interacted with God, believes in God's existence, and knows more about God's attributes and power than most...
...and yet, Satan doesn't love God."
"Knowledge about God doesn't equal faith in God."
🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧🟧
That's a profound thought.
There are people who know the Bible inside and out. They can quote Bible verses, engage in deep theological discussions, and possess a great deal of knowledge about God's Word. But knowledge alone does not lead to salvation.
God's Word says:
"You believe that God is one; you do well. The demons also believe, and they tremble."
— James 2:19 📖
The demons do not doubt God's existence. They know who God is. They know His power and that His judgment will surely come. But they do not love Him.
Yet, Scripture teaches us something else.
Even though Satan and his demons constantly oppose God, they are still completely under God's sovereign authority. They cannot do anything without His permission.
In the book of Job, we see that Satan is not allowed to touch Job without God's permission. In the case of the possessed man in Gadara, the demons beg the Lord Jesus to let them enter the herd of pigs.
"And the demons begged Him, saying, 'If You cast us out, send us into the herd of swine.' And He said to them, 'Go.'"
— Matthew 8:31-32 📖
Even at the Last Supper, we see God's absolute sovereignty. Judas Iscariot betrays the Lord Jesus of his own free will, while the satan in him operates. Yet, even that does not happen outside of God's eternal decree.
"And after the supper, Satan entered into him. Jesus therefore said to him, 'What you are doing, do quickly.'"
— John 13:27 📖
And to Peter, the Lord says:
'Simon, Simon, behold, Satan has desired to have you, that he might sift you as wheat; but I have prayed for you, that your faith fail not.'
— Luke 22:31-32 📖
When we reflect on this, we realize how small and dependent we humans truly are.
Even Satan cannot do anything without God's permission.
That does not mean that God is the Author of evil. God's Word is clear about this. Sin comes from the corrupt heart of man and from the rebellion of Satan. But nothing can thwart God's holy will. Even what people and demons intend for evil, God ultimately uses to fulfill His perfect plan.
That gives deep peace.
We are completely dependent on the Almighty God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. No one lives outside of His providence. No demon acts without His permission. No event escapes His almighty hand.
Therefore, our hope is not in our own strength, not in our knowledge, and not in our theology, but in the Lord Jesus Christ.
Paul writes:
'That I may know Him, and the power of His resurrection, and the fellowship of His sufferings...'
— Philippians 3:10 📖
And the Lord says:
'I am God, and there is none else; I am God, and there is none like Me. Declaring from the beginning the things that are to come, even the things that are not yet done; I say, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure.'
— Isaiah 46:9-10 📖
Therefore, let us examine ourselves.
Not: How much do I know about God?
But: Do I really know the Lord Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior?
Because knowledge alone does not save.
A living faith is a gift from God, wrought by His grace.
'For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; not of works, lest any man should boast.'
— Ephesians 2:8-9 📖
All glory to the Almighty God, the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, who reigns forever and ever.
Greetings, Richard
