Why is it so?
Because in mains or in interviews, questions are not asked from the subjects. Questions are asked from Topics. And topics can't be answered from knowledge of one subject. It requires linkages of minimum 3-4 subjects at one place (think about the newspaper's article).
For example, Question is suicide of young women in GS-1 society. If you can't link with topics like attitude formation, social influence, familial role, peer group, work culture, justice system, geographical location, post liberalism, social media, economic status, cultural lag, fertility, corporate culture, urbanism, global contacts etc etc, your answer looks shallow and lacks depth and original thought. And writing only society content leaves a mark of 360 on marksheet!!!
