I think AI is interesting, in the same way that I think the wreck of the Titanic is interesting: It's kinda neat to explore the wreck, but the wreck shouldn't exist in the first place, and I certainly don't think 1500 people should have had to suffer and die for it. I think AI is fascinating, in the same way a forensic engineer finds an orphan-crushing machine fascinating: The engineering behind it is very clever, but why didn't they use this thing to juice oranges instead? I think we can learn from AI, in the same way I think we can learn from 9/11: We need to study it, so we can make sure that something like this never happens again.
