FINALE ANS KEYS OUT

Students asking whether to take a drop year can generally be understood in three categories based on experience with toppers, average, and non-serious students: topper students usually have already done almost everything but missed their desired branch by a small rank margin, so it’s not very difficult for them to improve in a drop year; average students, typically scoring around 90–98 percentile, are the most unpredictable—this score can sometimes come from partial syllabus coverage or favorable paper patterns, so unless they become much more serious, consistent, and disciplined in both revision and practice, they risk scoring even lower in the drop year, especially if distracted by peers going to college; non-serious students, however, should ideally avoid taking a drop because if they didn’t study in the past two years, expecting a major transformation in just 7–8 months is unrealistic, and the drop year may end up becoming more like a break than a productive effort.
