🚨 SCAMMER SPOTLIGHT: Min Chen, 40, got CAUGHT running a refund scam as a money mule.
Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office detectives caught this guy red-handed after he showed up at an 81-year-old woman’s home in Lithia, Florida, to pick up cash from a malicious email scam. He was under surveillance the whole time, arrested at a nearby plaza with the “money” (actually a decoy) sitting right on his center console. Charged with Organized Fraud of a Person 65+, Theft from a Senior, and Unlawful Use of a Two-Way Communications Device.
Here’s the part every “smart” scammer needs to hear: Min Chen thought a regular burner phone and some downloaded app would keep him invisible. It didn’t. Law enforcement tracked the communications, followed the money pickup, and locked him up anyway.
Reality check: 9 out of 10 times you WILL get caught. Burner phones and apps do NOT protect you. The second you touch that cash or make that move, the net closes.
