FOUR REASONS STUDENTS HESITATE TO JOIN A READING CLASS
MY GRAMMAR IS NOT STRONG ENOUGH YET
This is the most common reason students wait, and it is the reason they wait for years. There is no level of grammar at which reading suddenly becomes easy. Reading becomes easy by reading. If you have completed a basic grammar course, you have enough to begin, and the class is guided precisely so that gaps are filled as they appear.
I AM AFRAID OF READING ALOUD IN FRONT OF OTHERS
Every student in the room is in the same position. Being corrected is the mechanism of the course, not an embarrassment inside it. An uncorrected reading error becomes permanent. A corrected one disappears in a week.
I CANNOT ATTEND EVERY WEDNESDAY
Every session is recorded and released after the class. The discussion group stays open for your questions between sessions.
I HAVE ALREADY TRIED SELF STUDY
Self study builds knowledge efficiently and skill very slowly. Nobody has ever learned to read a difficult language without someone competent listening to them read.

A QUESTION FOR EVERY STUDENT OF ARABIC
Take any classical book from your shelf. Open it at a page you have never seen. Read for two minutes without looking anything up.
What happened?
If the page moved, alhamdulillah. You do not need this course.
If you stopped at the third line, if you recognised most of the words but could not assemble the sentence, if you found yourself parsing instead of reading, then you have found the exact thing this course was built to fix.
WHAT THAT EXPERIENCE ACTUALLY MEANS
It does not mean your grammar was wasted. Your grammar is the reason you got to the third line at all.
It means your grammar has never been put under load. You learned it in isolated sentences designed to demonstrate a rule. Classical prose does not announce its rules. It assumes you have internalised them and moves at its own speed.
The only thing that closes that distance is reading real text, regularly, with someone who can stop you at the right moment and explain why the sentence turned the way it did.

Assalāmu ʿalaykum wa raḥmatullāhi wa barakātuh,
Alhamdulillāh, today marks a special milestone. One of my students has completed Kāfiyah of Ibn al-Ḥājib with me in private study.
For several months he came to each session focused, and together we made our way through this demanding text from start to finish. We uncovered its hidden meanings, opened up its compact sentences, and worked through its rules.
Al-Kāfiyah is not a text one finishes lightly. It rewards patience and steady effort, and this student gave both. I am proud of what he has accomplished.
May Allāh accept this effort and make this knowledge a lasting benefit for him. Congratulations, and bārak Allāhu fīk.

⏳ 2 SEATS. THAT'S ALL THAT'S LEFT.
We opened registration for Lāmiyyat al-Afʿāl expecting a steady response.
We did not expect the class to fill this quickly.
As of today, only two places remain — and this post is your final notice before registration closes.
WHY DID IT FILL SO FAST?
Because serious students recognize this text.
For centuries, Ibn Mālik's Lāmiyyat al-Afʿāl has been the standard introduction to Ṣarf in curriculums across the Muslim world. With the Iḥmirār of Ibn Zayn ash-Shinqīṭī: nearly 200 lines of verse covering the entire verbal system.
The past tense and its nuances. The abwāb of the triliteral verb. The meanings of the patterns. The augmented forms. The passive. The imperative. The participles. The maṣdar and ism al-maṣdar.
No curriculum is complete without it.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN READING ARABIC AND DECODING IT
Advanced students do not know more words than you. They know the system — the patterns from which Arabic builds its words. That system is Ṣarf: one root, dozens of words unlocked. The scholars called it the mother of the sciences.
For eight centuries, curriculums have taught it through one text: Lāmiyyat al-Afʿāl of Ibn Mālik.
With the Iḥmirār of Ibn Zayn ash-Shinqīṭī, nearly 200 lines of verse covering the entire verbal system — the past tense, the abwāb, the meanings of the patterns, the augmented forms, the passive, the imperative, the participles, the maṣdar and ism al-maṣdar. Memorized once, retained for life.
No curriculum is complete without it.

Alhamdulillah, all praise belongs to Allah alone.
A student in our Dars-e-Nizami Arabic Level 1 program, having completed Ṣarf Bahāʾī and Mīzān al-Ṣarf, shared this review:
"Studying Ṣarf Bahāʾī and Mīzān al-Ṣarf with Ustādh Ibrāhīm has given me a far clearer and more structured understanding of Arabic morphology. As a beginner, I especially benefited from the way he explained technical concepts in accessible English while preserving the traditional terminology and method of the texts.
The lessons helped me understand verb patterns, conjugation, the morphological scale, and the distinction between mujarrad and mazīd forms in a systematic manner. Ustādh Ibrāhīm teaches patiently, revises important points, and regularly directs students to beneficial books and supporting resources.
These courses have provided me with a firm foundation and have increased my confidence to continue to more advanced works in ṣarf. I would sincerely recommend them to any serious student seeking a disciplined introduction to classical Arabic morphology."
A Student of Dars-e-Nizami Arabic Level 1
Ṣarf is the science of how Arabic words are built. For generations, students in the Dars-e-Nizami tradition have begun it with these two texts, moving from the morphological scale to the full system of verb patterns. Our aim is simply to pass on that method faithfully, in English, without diluting it.
Whatever understanding our students reach is from Allah alone, and we ask Him to accept it from them and from us.
If you wish to study classical Ṣarf from the beginning, through the same texts studied in traditional seminaries, message us to learn about the Dars-e-Nizami Arabic program and our private classes.

The Arabic School
WHY LĀMIYYAT AL-AFʿĀL?
Every student reaches this text eventually. Here is why.
BECAUSE ṢARF IS NOT OPTIONAL
Arabic is built on roots and patterns. One root produces dozens of forms, and Ṣarf is the science that governs them all. Without it, every new word is a stranger. With it, you meet one root and recognize an entire family. The scholars called Ṣarf the mother of the sciences for a reason.
BECAUSE THIS IS THE TEXT THE SCHOLARS CHOSE
For centuries, curriculums across the Muslim world have settled on Ibn Mālik's poem as the standard intermediate to advanced text in morphology. No curriculum is complete without it.
BECAUSE IT COVERS EVERYTHING
The past tense and its nuances. The abwāb of the triliteral verb and how to recognize them. The meanings of the patterns. The augmented forms. The passive. The imperative. The participles. The maṣdar and ism al-maṣdar. With the Iḥmirār of Ibn Zayn ash-Shinqīṭī, nearly 200 lines covering the entire verbal system.
BECAUSE IT IS POETRY
Prose is studied and forgotten. Verse is memorized and kept. You learn this poem once and carry the science for life.
BECAUSE WE WILL NOT READ IT ALONE
We study it line by line with the great commentaries: the Ṭurrah of Ibn Zayn ash-Shinqīṭī, Shaykh Muḥammad al-Amīn al-Hararī, and Bāḥraq al-Ḥaḍramī.

Alhamdulillah, all praise belongs to Allah alone.
A student in our private al-Ajurrumiyyah classes shared this, and we post it anonymously with gratitude:
"In a short amount of time (very few sessions), I am now able to understand parts of the sciences of Arabic grammar, due to an in-depth teaching of the early chapters of al-Ajurrumiyyah."
A Student of The Arabic School, Private Classes in al-Ajurrumiyyah
For centuries, students of knowledge have opened the door to Naḥw with this small text. Its author, Ibn Ājurrūm, wrote it so that a beginner could carry the foundations of the language in a few short pages. When it is taught properly, slowly, chapter by chapter, with every rule explained and applied, a student does not need years before the language begins to make sense. A few sincere sessions can be enough to see the first results.
We claim no credit for this. The text is a gift from our scholars, and understanding is a gift from Allah. Our task is only to teach it with care, and we ask Allah to accept it from us and from our students.
If you have wanted to study al-Ajurrumiyyah with a teacher, in private classes that move at your pace, message us. We would be honoured to walk through it with you.

Alhamdulillah, all praise belongs to Allah alone
.
A student in our Sharh Miat 'Amil class recently shared this reflection. We post it, with their permission and without their name, because it describes an experience many students of Arabic will recognise: years of study, yet the feeling of being lost.
"Learning Arabic grammar is like walking into a room that initially feels cluttered: boxes everywhere, everything needing to be unpacked, yet nothing indicating where each item belongs. It's easy, and very common, to feel overwhelmed. I had taken Naḥw and Ṣarf classes for four years and still felt lost, unable to understand which word takes which iʿrāb in real-time reading. In a full state of panic, realising I had studied Arabic for years without truly grasping the concepts, I reached out to The Arabic School.
You might wonder: what's the difference? Previously, I memorised rules without understanding them, creating flashcards and cramming before exams, because I did not find studying Arabic grammar enjoyable. Ustadh Ibrahim Farooqui, however, explains the concepts and offers simple tips and tricks that are easy to remember. He explains what is expected, what happens when a rule is applied, and how it affects the words in the sentence. In addition to that, the concepts are repeated in this class as we work through the breakdown of the sentences. This makes it much easier to retain the concepts by way of application.
I used to dread Arabic grammar classes, but with Ustadh's lectures, time genuinely flies. Another point worth mentioning is that Ustadh's expertise is evident in his teaching style: clear, confident, and deeply rooted in mastery of the subject."
A Student of The Arabic School, Sharh Miat 'Amil Class
If you have studied Naḥw for years and still cannot apply iʿrāb when reading, you are not alone, and it is not a fault in you. Understanding comes before memorisation. Whatever benefit this student found is from Allah alone, and we ask Him to accept their efforts and ours.
If you would like to study Sharh Miat 'Amil or begin with the fundamentals of Naḥw and Ṣarf, message us to find out about our courses and private lessons.
