God slept through the Shoa so I imagine He's probably off sleeping again at whiny Conservatives.

Because the one book you can almost guarantee a Christian hasn't read is the Bible itself.

After last night's circumstances in the USA, as a fella with a Bible degree, I would like to ask the Christian Nationalists crying out to their god: Call louder! Perhaps he is deep in thought, or relieving himself, or traveling. Maybe he is sleeping and must be awakened.
And maybe they'll get the joke. Or maybe they won't. 😉

To start off Native American Heritage Month, luckily my indigenous ancestor Zerviah Gould Mitchell was also a writer. Her book on her own ancestry and the unredacted history of the horrors against the Wampanoag tribe is free on Archive.org, which you can read here: https://archive.org/details/indianhistorybio00peir_0/page/n9/mode/2up
Enjoy!

To those keeping score in the background, you may have noticed I have at different points in the channel's existence referenced
-Celtic heritage
-Romani heritage
-Jewish heritage
-African-American heritage
-and now Native American heritage.
And nope, none of those were for oppression points. Fact is I just grew up in New York about ten minutes east of a rez. Folks like me happen when your country prides itself on being a melting pot.

As it is Native American Heritage Month in the USA, I'm going to be doing some more posts on the crossover between druidry and Native American practice, as I am in fact a person of Native American heritage practicing druidry. A bit on the nose but it works pretty well.

For a belated Halloween post, as the aura of the night still floats in the autumn air:
It should come as no surprise that, with all the talk of the Devil's Holiday, that the god who inspired the modern idea of the devil, Cernunnos, l should be intertwined with ancient Samhain.
Just as Samhain marks the end of harvest and beginning of movement into the dark, so Cernunnos is a god of shamanism, of the in-between, of duality. In the Gundestrup Cauldron, we see Cernunnos wielding a torc in one hand, symbolizing wealth and power, and the snake in the other hand, symbolizing lowliness and wildness. His horns were worn by shamans of old to attempt to commune with the other side. He is The Ancient, the Horned God, the god of Death and Life.
And for Oidhche Shamhna, Scotland's equivalent to Samhain, Cernunnos retires for the winter. In some traditions, this day is the symbolic death of the Horned God. His blood feeds the earth, grass, and trees before they, and he, should rise again in spring.
