Balochistan has declared independence from Pakistan, forming a new sovereign state. The Baloch, an Iranian ethnic group split between Iran and Pakistan, have a long history of armed resistance against central governments. This declaration comes amid heightened tensions in the Pakistan-India conflict and could significantly escalate the situation. The Baloch have appealed to India for recognition, and if granted, Pakistan may perceive it as direct interference, potentially intensifying the standoff between the two nuclear-armed nations.

Federal prosecutors have uncovered a $50 million Chinese money-laundering scheme that funneled cartel drug profits through major U.S. banks like Chase, Bank of America, and Citibank in Los Angeles. The operation involved Chinese brokers buying drug dollars cheaply from Mexico's Sinaloa cartel and reselling them at a premium to Chinese nationals, with couriers casually making massive deposits. Despite millions of suspicious activity reports, the scheme operated openly for years, revealing how U.S. financial institutions are vulnerable to exploitation and how international laundering networks fuel the profitability of drug trafficking.

NASA scientists testing radar over Greenland accidentally rediscovered Camp Century, a long-buried U.S. Cold War nuclear base hidden under more than 100 feet of ice. Originally part of the secretive "Project Iceworm," the facility was intended to house 600 ballistic missiles beneath the Arctic. Equipped with a nuclear reactor and living quarters for 200 personnel, the base was abandoned in 1967. The discovery highlights Cold War ambitions frozen in time, resurfacing as political interest in Greenland rekindles—especially amid talk of a U.S. purchase, which has left Denmark uneasy despite existing U.S. base rights.
