August 18, 1993 - Seattle, WA, US Kurt Cobain was photographed throw a party to celebrate Frances Bean Cobain's 1st birthday at their home in Matthews Beach.

I think he was a little overwhelmed too [that day] because I’ve got a picture somewhere of the living room and just dozens of toys. Somebody bought a trike and put an anarchy symbol on it. Which was great. But at the same time, after the guests were gone, he just looked at me and shook his head. I said, ‘A lot of stuff, huh?’ And he said, ‘Yeah.’ He lived a pretty simple life. He didn’t come from money.

August 17, 1990 - Hollywood, CA, US Nirvana performs at the Hollywood Palladium. Sonic Youth's set was shot by Dave Markey, so Nirvana's set may have been video taped as well. During Love Buzz, Kurt jumped into the audience and allowed members of the crowd to play his guitar for a minute before going back on stage.

August 17, 1991 - Culver City, CA, US Nirvana is photographed in GMT Studios before filming her music video for the song Smells Like Teen Spirit.

August 15, 1991 - West Hollywood, CA, US Nirvana performs at the Roxy Theatre Some have called this the best Nirvana show of all time. Kerrang! magazine even gave this show 1st place in its list of “The 100 Greatest Gigs of All Time.” The show was basically a showcase for Geffen/DGC and a way to get the media excited about the band. The band played on rented gear. Stage divers kept stepping on Kurt’s effect pedals and disconnecting his guitar, prompting him to say, “I’m all for stage diving, but just don’t step on my pedals,” according to an attendee. After “Smells Like Teen Spirit,” Krist mentioned that they would be filming a music video for the song that weekend. At the end of the show, people from Geffen handed out flyers to fans to get extras for the video shoot. At one point between songs, Kurt read the flyer to the crowd. At the end of the concert Kurt smashed at least the neck of his guitar. Most of the set below comes from the band’s handwritten setlist.

August 13, 1990 - San Francisco, CA, US Kurt Cobain and Krist Novoselic attend a Scream concert at the I-Beam. Before their tour with Sonic Youth began, Nirvana spent a few days at Buzz Osborne’s house in San Francisco. On Buzz’s recommendation, they went to see Scream perform at the I-Beam. This was the first time both Kurt and Krist saw Dave Grohl play.

They wanted a heavier drummer than Chad. I can remember Kurt telling me after the Scream show, ‘I wish we could get a drummer like that’

We were visiting the Melvins, and Scream was playing a free show at the I-Beam. I’ve loved Scream since ‘83… saw them, bought all their records… they rock. Anyways, Kurdt and I go to L.A. and Skeeter Thompson, Scream’s bass player went, flies the coup, and these guys are broke in L.A., right? Dave calls Buzz and says he’s broke in L.A. and what’s goin on, and he tells him that hey, you should call Nirvana. They need a drummer.

After returning to Olympia from Los Angeles on July 29, 1991, Kurt Cobain discovered that he had been evicted from his apartment on Pear Street for not paying rent. For a few days, he lived in his newly purchased car. Shortly afterward, he visited his mother in Aberdeen, staying there for a few days. August 6, 1993 - Seattle, WA, US Nirvana performs at the King Performance Center.

Курт Кобейн сам разработал концепт гитары Fender Jag-Stang, гибрид гитар Jaguar и Mustang. Он разорвал полароидные фотографии двух инструментов и соединил их с помощью клея, чтобы показать Fender, как должна была выглядеть его идеальная гитара в 1993 году.
