❌🇺🇸 Reuters: Donald Trump considers a potential government shutdown as early as this week!
The U.S. government faces a partial shutdown starting Saturday if Congress fails to pass a funding bill.
Republicans and Democrats have yet to reach a compromise on immigration policy, defense spending, and social programs.
✔ Donald Trump: “The responsibility for the government shutdown will fall on the Democratic Party. A shutdown will lead to higher taxes for Americans.”
✔ Scott Bessent (U.S. Treasury): “A government shutdown would be incredibly destructive for the U.S. economy.”
🇺🇸 The U.S. Senate Banking Committee has approved the “GENIUS” bill on stablecoin issuer regulation
✔️ Key provisions:
◽️ AML/KYC – Compliance with anti-money laundering (AML) standards and customer identification (KYC) is required for large transactions.
◽️ Transaction freezing – The U.S. Treasury is granted authority to block suspicious transactions, and issuers must have mechanisms to freeze transfers.
◽️ Regulatory oversight – Stablecoin issuers with a market cap of up to $10 billion will be regulated by state authorities, while larger issuers will fall under federal oversight. However, they may remain under state supervision if they meet certain conditions.
◽️ Reserves – Stablecoins must be backed by liquid assets, including cash, deposits, and U.S. government bonds.
◽️ Transparency – Stablecoin issuers must publish monthly reports on liquidity and reserve composition.
The bill will now proceed to a vote in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.
