| 5 | Order to stop Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram
A government organization has ordered the closure of the Mater platform Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram.
This order was given to the International Internet Gateway (IIG) institutions after 1 o'clock on Sunday.
The anti-discrimination student movement has called for an all-out non-cooperation movement from today with a one-point demand for the resignation of the government. Clashes occurred in different parts of the country including the capital Dhaka in this movement. Four people, including two in Munshiganj, one in Rangpur and one in Magura, were killed in the clashes.
In this situation, the mobile operators were ordered to stop the 4G internet service at around 12 noon today. Mobile internet cannot be used when 4G is off. Then you can only talk through 2-G. There are more than 12 crore mobile internet users in the country.
An hour later around 1:00 pm the IIG institutions were verbally instructed to shut down the Mater Cash servers.
But broadband internet is still active.
Mobile internet and broadband internet were stopped from the night of July 17 and broadband internet on the night of July 18 due to clashes centered on the quota reform movement.
After five days on July 23, broadband internet connection returned to a limited extent. And after 10 days, mobile internet was launched on July 28. But the platforms Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp and Instagram were closed. Apart from this, Tiktok is also closed. On the other hand, while YouTube was running on broadband connection, it was off on mobile data.
